Galatasaray reporter Burhan Can Terzi has been taken into custody following an investigation launched over his report about Jamal Musiala. He is accused of “publicly disseminating misleading information.”
Burhan Can Terzi was taken into custody on the instructions of the Bakırköy Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office and was taken to the Security Branch Directorate of the Istanbul Provincial Police Department to give a statement.
A few days ago, Burhan Can Terzi reported that Bayern Munich star Jamal Musiala would transfer to Galatasaray. Several hours after the report was published, Galatasaray released a statement saying that the transfer claims were not true. However, Terzi did not back down and continued to insist that his report was accurate, saying: “I’m putting my head on the line.”
Although Galatasaray itself did not file a complaint against Terzi, some supporters reportedly complained that he continued making statements contrary to the facts even after the club had issued a denial, allegedly misleading the public.
Following the complaint, the Bakırköy Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office launched an investigation, which ultimately led to Terzi being taken into custody.
