Maybe Kobayashi is selected to represent Japan in the Winter Universiade, which starts next weekend at Strbske Pleso?

That means he should get his chance to compete for the Overall title, especially if Kraft or Hayboeck would not come to Sapporo :nie: And I'm especially interested to see him flying at Vikersund, imagine Kasai broking the world record :aetsch: No Japanese jumper ever achieved that, Takao Ito...

Will Kasai be jumping in Wisla and Zakopane, any information?

Actually that is an error in FIS database (not the only one), the name of the jumper was Erkki Nykaenen, not Matti Nykaenen http://www.sport24.ee/index.php?ac=kuvavoistlus3&voistlus=24250

According to FIS rules, only Nordin can start...theoretically, Isak Grimholm is still listed as active jumper, but he hasn't jumped for 3 years internationaly. Mitz, Aren and Johan Erikson, who jumped this month in Swedish championships could also start, but they are listed as 'not active' on...

19th career COC victory for Manuel Fetnner, now he is equal on the first place of the all time list with Stefan Thurnbichler.

Is Funaki still active?

If Fettner wins twice, he will become most successful athlete in Continental Cup history :) So far he has 18 Continental Cup victories (summer+winter), record is still held by Stefan Thurnbichler - 19.

Actually, this is the first time since 2001/02 season that France is organizing World Cup / Continental Cup event during winter season.

Sven Eriksson won the medals in both Nordic Combined and Ski Jumping in 1930's (+ he was the Holmenkollen winner in ski jumping), but Georg Thoma was the only 'successful' Nordic combined athlete that also managed to win World Cup / Four Hills / Holmenkollen competition in ski jumping as well...

Georg Thoma (Olympic champion in Nordic Combined, 1960) won the Four Hill competition at Garsmich-Partenkirchen 1962, I believe that was the only 'similar' case.

Coaches will still be able to shorten the inrun for their jumpers. But, the jumpers will have to jump over certain line on the hill, if they will not succeed, the bonus points for shortening the inrun will not be given...
