Jorge Castro health worsens!

Sadly, Argentinean news service, DyN, reported that the health of former world champion Jorge Castro has taken a turn for the worse. Castro, who is in an induced coma, continues to struggle with a severe lung infection. "The situation is not improving and is a bad sign," said Dr. Donato Spaccavento, at the Argerich Hospital in Buenos Aires. Castro survived a serious accident when his car hit a tree in Buenos Aires, around 5:40 AM, back on June 17. Castro was admitted to the hospital with multiple traumas to the head, his torax and abdomen, and his pelvis and legs. "The evolution of his injuries has been slow, since he cannot breathe on his own, due to the complication in his lung. We are forced to keep him attached to an artificial respirator, to help him bring oxygen to his blood and avoid any further damage to other organs," explained Dr. Spaccavento. "For now, we are trying to save his life and then we will see if he can ever compete again."

Ich wollte ihn eigentlich nicht nochmal um eine WM sehen, die er sich da mit diesem letzten Eliminator "verdient" hat - allerdings, dass ihm so etwas einen Strich durch die rechung macht, ist natürlich traurig.

Gesetzt dem Fall, er ist da wie ein Rowdy durch die Pampa gedüst, tu ich mich dann auch manchmal schwer, richtiges Mitleid zu empfinden, wenn es anstatt dem unschuldig entgegenkommenden Familienkombi mal den Raser höchstselbst erwischt.

Ich hatte eigentlich erst gedacht, dass er die Verletzungen locker übersteht, ist ja immer unglaublich hart gewesen.

Wenn er jetzt noch Probleme mit seiner Lunge hat...
Ich hoffe auf jeden Fall das bese für ihn.

Jorge Castro in miracle recovery?

July 14, 2005 - If reports from Argentina are to be believed, Jorge Castro has improved so much from an automobile accident that left him comatose and hooked up to an artificial respirator that he may be discharged from the hospital in a few days. Even more incredibly, Castro, who can now breathe on his own, says he wants to return to the ring by December and hopes to fight for a world title (days before the accident Castro won a WBA light heavyweight eliminator against Derrick Harmon). According to the story on a website called boxeo-boxing, hospital officials did not say Castro would not fight again, deferring that decision to Castro's personal physician, Walter Quintero. Whatever the future holds for Castro, who has more wins than anyh other active boxer, Boxingtalk wishes him well in his continued recovery.




Tja, is wohl noch nicht bestätigt, kann man für den jungen Mann nur hoffen, dass des so stimmt - shit von mir aus soller dann auch um die WM boxen, nach soner Aktion!

Nach so einer ernsthaften Verletzung würde ich nicht nochmal in den Ring steigen!! Der Unfall war bestimmt ein Zeichen von Gott dass er langsam lieber aufhören soll mit dem boxen, ansonsten passiert vielleicht schlimmeres! Aber ich bin froh dass es ihm wieder besser geht!

Nach einem solchen Unfall muss man mal froh sein, wenn man überhaupt normal leben kann. Immerhin waren da ja schwere Schädelverletzungen dabei.
