Wer hätte das gedacht, Virgill Hill hat es auf seine alten Tage noch einmal geschafft Weltmeister zu werden.

42-year-old Virgil Hill won his first world title nineteen years ago in Atlantic City, NJ. Friday night he repeated the acheivement in the same city by outpointing previously unbeaten Valery Brudov over twelve round to win the WBA "regular" cruiserweight title. Hill easily outboxed Brudov over the first four rounds. Brudov got a lot more aggressive in round five and had some success pressuring Hill, but was never able to cut off the ring. Hill had free reign to move around, avoiding Brudov's lunges and peppering the Russian with scoring blows. Brudov finally connected with a big right hand with moments left in the fight that nearly dropped Hill, but it was way too little too late as Hill took a 118-110 decision on all cards. It is the second time Hill has won the WBA cruiser title to go with his two WBA light heavy belts. After the fight, Hill said he wants "one more big fight."
