I had the privilege last night of attending my first New Orleans Hornets game in the New Orleans Arena, where they played the Philadelphia 76ers.

I'll skip reminiscing on how great the game was [...]

Let's get straight to the oddest and most hilarious part of the night, when the New Orleans Hornets had 99 points and about 30 second left on the clock. The crowd went wild screaming, "Chicken!"

Um, what did I miss?

Again, this is my first Hornets game. I just figured they were calling the Hornets player a coward for trying to run the clock down without going for more points.

"Geez, lighten up," I thought. "We're winning! Who cares! And by the way, that's so ruuuude."

Luckily a friend explained to me that if the team scores 100 points, game attendees receive a free chicken wrap the next day from local fast-food favorite Popeyes Chicken and Biscuits.

In a stroke of luck, a 76ers player somehow fouled a Hornets player who was standing in the same spot dribbling the ball. The fans went wild with excitement, but that didn't compare to the roar of satisfaction when the Hornets player swooshed the penalty free-throw in the basket for the 100th point.

"Yeah! Chicken!!!!" I could swear I heard people saying that, high fives all around. As the cheers went on, the Jumbotron flashed the red Popeyes logo and the loud speakers blared, "Love that chicken from Pop-EYES!"

If that weren't funny enough, my aerobics instructor, Rachel, offered her own observation the next morning. The 76er players must have looked as confused as this first timer, because Rachel said she could see Chris Paul shrug his shoulders as he explained to an opponent, "They get fried chicken now."

Ah, the little things in life. I can't wait to go to another game!

Jetzt hol doch mal jemand den Miller aus Minneso-nixlosda. Die Wölfe schenken den Lakers 119 Punkte ein und der gute Mike stirbt mit 11 Pünktchen bei 3 von 3 Würfen mal wieder in Bescheidenheit...

Das ist zum größten Teil aber Schuld vom guten Mike selbst. Er hat oftmals offene Würfe, lässt die dann aber bleiben in dem er noch ein Dribbling nimmt um dann den Ball zu passen.
Hab das auch schon paarmal in Wolves-Blogs gelesen. Da regen sie sich sehr oft darüber auf, dass er einfach nicht wirft oder werfen will...

Vielleicht etwas interessant für Statistik-Freaks, aber keinen eigenen Thread wert: In dieser Saison wurden bzw. werden einige Meilensteine erreicht.

Shaquille O'Neal hat inzwischen Hakeem Olajuwon in der All-Time Scoring List überholt und liegt jetzt auf Platz 7. Sollte er seine derzeitige Form halten und nicht zu viele Spiele aussetzen, könnte er auch noch Elvin Hayes und Moses Malone überholen und läge folglicherweise dann auf Platz 5.

In der letzten Nacht überholte Allen Iverson Charles Barkley in der gleichen Tabelle und ist nun auf Platz 16. Ich kann mir die Anmerkung nicht verkneifen, dass er "nur" knapp 4.000 Würfe mehr als Barkley für diesen Meilenstein brauchte... :clown:

Kobe Bryant hat Clyde Drexler hinter sich gelassen und wird noch in dieser Saison in die Top20 vorstoßen (und wahrscheinlich auch Robert Parish noch einholen und im April auf Platz 18 landen).

Tim Duncan (der übrigens auch die 10.000 Rebounds und 2.000 Blocks geknackt hat) ist inzwischen in die Top 50 der Scorer vorgestoßen (derzeit Platz 48), und auch Dirk Nowitzki wird dies im Laufe der Saison mit Sicherheit noch gelingen (es fehlen nur noch etwas über 300 Punkte).

Steve Nash hat Terry Porter bei den Assists überholt, liegt derzeit auf Platz 11 All-Time und wird demnächst Lenny Wilkens aus der Top 10 verdrängen, ebenso wie Jason Kidd demnächst Oscar Robertson übertreffen und neben Stockton, Mark Jackson und Magic erst der 4. Spieler mit 10.000 Assists sein wird (15.000 Punkte sollte er dann auch haben).

Wer mag, kann weitermachen. :D

Das hört sich doch nicht schlecht an. Ich glaube und weiss das er es schaffen wird. Ihr denkt das doch auch oder ? Sympatischer als Ricky gehts doch gar nicht. x)
