(Deng probably done for season: Bulls F Luol Deng will likely miss the rest of the season because of a stress fracture in his right tibia, unless the Bulls make a long playoff run. General manager John Paxson said Thursday that the Bulls want to avoid surgery so they're using "total caution." Paxson spoke before the Bulls played Philadelphia on Thursday and said said that "it's likely that he's done for the year because we want to give him the time to heal."

(Garnett uncertain to start playoffs: Boston PF Kevin Garnett's status for the playoffs is still uncertain, reports the Providence Journal on Wednesday. Boston coach Doc Rivers hopes Garnett will return for Saturday's game, but it is definitely not set in stone. When asked for a definite answer on whether Garnett is going to play, Rivers said, "I think so. I don’t know honestly." When asked if Garnett would play if he doesn’t suffer any setbacks in practice today or tomorrow, Rivers said, "Yeah, he’ll play. But if we don’t like what we see, he won’t. We haven’t seen him play. We don’t know how it’s going to turn out tomorrow and after [he practices] we don’t know how he is going to feel the next day. We don’t know that so we’ll wait and see."
