RICKY HATTON has given up his IBF crown after refusing to fight Ben Rabbah.
The Manchester Hitman chose to ditch the world light-welterweight belt he won by stopping legendary Kostya Tszyu last summer to pursue big-money fights.
He said: “I have a great relationship with the IBF and they understood why I couldn’t go through with a mandatory defence against Rabbah.
“I step up a division to fight Luis Collazo in May for his WBA welterweight title and after that there should be a few big-name bouts for me.
“I am talking about the likes of Diego Corrales and Arturo Gatti.
“They would be further career-defining fights for me — and with all due respect to Rabbah he cannot be counted among the big names.
“In an ideal world I’d like to keep all belts but that is not possible in this day and age.
“I’ve told the IBF that I would love to fight for their title again.”
When Hatton won the IBF crown in Manchester he had nine months to make a mandatory defence against Rabbah.
