Und sein Trainer ist nicht Roach und nicht Duran sondern Buddy MCGirt! Was sagt ihr dazu? MCGirt ist ja bekannt dafür dass er seine Schützlinge gut Motivieren kann! Ich denke er passt gut zu Tyson!
Checkt das hier mal aus!
ERO BEACH, Fla. -- A former heavyweight champion has begun training at a world-renowned facility in Gifford.
Mike Tyson is back in training in Vero Beach, just three weeks after telling the New York Post that he may never box again.
World-class trainer Buddy McGirt has confirmed the news. He said Tyson has moved to town and began workouts at McGirt's Elite Boxing facility in Gifford.
Tyson is rumored to have a fight scheduled for March, but McGirt said he expects Tyson to be in Vero Beach for a couple of months.
Tyson registered as a sex offender with the Indian River County Sheriff's Office on Monday. He's required to do so after his 1992 conviction.
Tyson served three years in prison.
"Mike registered (with the Sheriff's Office) earlier this week. He knows he has to do it," McGirt said. "He reminded everyone that he had to. He wanted to get it out of the way before he started training."
Tyson's registration form listed an address in the 1800 block of State Road A1A in the Riomar area, and the Sheriff's Office planned to visit the location and confirm the address Thursday night, said Detective Thom Raulens.
The information will get forwarded to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, which will list him on its Web site of registered sex offenders.
The Sheriff's Office will include Tyson's photo, address and offender status on a scrolling list of registered sex offenders and predators that airs on a government cable TV channel in Indian River County, Raulens said.
This isn't the first time Tyson was linked with McGirt.
When Mike Tyson signed to fight Clifford Etienne, McGirt was asked to train Tyson. However, McGirt had previously met with Etienne and had given him his word he would train him. Tyson afterwards knocked Ettiene out in the first round with Freddie Roach as his trainer.
James 'Buddy' McGirt is among a selected few boxers that have managed to build a successful second career as a trainer after life as a top Pro. McGirt was world champion twice (IBF light welterweight in 1988 and WBC welterweight champion 1991 - 1993), retiring in 1997 with a career record of 73-6-1 with 48 knockouts. He is the only Boxing Writers Association of America "Trainer of the Year" award recipient to have won world titles of his own.
McGirt's current crop of fighters include Antonio Tarver, Arturo Gatti, and Francisco Bojado. He has also worked with fighters such as Jameel McCline, Fernando Vargas, Johnny Tapia and Clifford Etienne.
McGirt is renowned for his easy-going attitude, old school work ethic and ability to motivate his fighters. He is also fast becoming known as a technical genius, masterminding the downfall of Roy Jones Jnr, and turning the brawling Arturo Gatti into a slick, hard-to-hit counter puncher
