Sorjaturong upset by Janiola!
By Joe Koizumi
Unheralded Filipino light-fly champ Wendyl Janiola (12-0, 9 KOs) unexpectedly scored an upset lopsided decision over WBC #5 ranked ex-champ Saman Sorjaturong (46-5-1, 35 KOs) over 10 heats in Poipet, Cambodia. Saman had shown his strength in beating ex-OPBF 108-pound champ Koki Tanaka via third round TKO in Japan last February, but he failed to outclass the younger Filipino. Two judges scored 98-92 for Janiola, and another judge’s tally for the Filipino wasn’t reported.
