Sad news for the Italian tennis. Karin Knapp ended her professional tennis career due to a chronic right knee injury, that she tried to solve undergoing five surgeries without any result, basically. At 30 years of age, she decided to retire after a good journey in the sport, that saw her winning two WTA career-titles (2014 Tashkent and 2015 Nurnberg) and reaching the 2013 Wimbledon fourth round. 'In these days at the Foro Italico, many people asked me about my plans, and then it seemed fair to me announce that the moment to retire from professional tennis has come', Knapp said.
She tried everything: 'It's a tough decision, but I unfortunately have to resign that my right knee does not hold up anymore. After my fifth knee surgery in February last year, I tried all the ways to return, working hard for months, but every time that I increased the workload pain was always there.'
