Er hatte ja schon so oft einen Warnschuss er halten und trotzdem schlug er immer wieder über die Stränge

Thiele seems to be right about Niemelä rather having anything else than Olli to the team. Or at least he really tries to make this as stressful as possible for Harri. Somehow this:

really rubs me the wrong way. (Niemelä strongly emphasizes that Harri will not be back at the national team, he is just given this one chance to show his current form like all the other not-national team jumpers in Sapporo and after that they only jump their best (national team) jumpers at World cup.)

Especially considering that Harri has no chance to defend himself publicly or tell his side of things. His ski jump career is totally up to Niemelä and it is not like he could speak freely about the situation. Then again Niemelä can say anything he wants about Harri to reporters and it is considered the truth.

I'm not claiming that Niemelä has been dishonest about the situation or that he is not fair and of course this is a story made by the reporter and some choice of words is probably his and so on, but still.

Hätt auch Anssi gern beim Fliegen gesehen. So hätter er Punkte fuer die Startquoten holen können.. Ja gut in Sapp kanner des auch...ich weis..:schaem:

Wetter in Harrachov soll wohl wieder Mist werden, besser zu Hause sein als da nen WE rumhocken oder sich schwer verletzen.....

zusammenfassend hat Pekka also nur Matti wieder fit bekommen. Super Ausbeute.

Wen hat er fit bekommen? Wenn ich an letzte Saison denke, war einzig Janne in der Nähe der Top Ten am Ende der Saison
Im Sommer waren Kalle und Harri gut, jetzt Matti und Ville
Das ist mehr als Väätäinen geschafft hat, sorry...

Väätäinen hat Hapa zu nem Siegspringer gemacht. Unter ihm hat das Team Mannschaftswettbewerbe gewonnen, und zwar in genau dem Jahr wo alle erwartet haben das ohne den guten tollen Janne NICHTs laufen wuerde. Der hat aus dem was ihm zur Verfuegung stand das Beste gemacht. Und vor allem konnte er mit Harri umgehen so dass alle davon was hatten. Letztes Jahr ging ja das teaminterne gezicke los. Zudem hat er Janne Happonen zu dem gemacht was er ist.
Von Kalle sieht man nix mehr und ob Harri noch mal in der Form wieder kommt in der er schon mal war steht auch noch in den Sternen.

Manchmal macht man sich halt so seine eigenen Gedanken.

Und abstreiten kann man wohl nicht das nach Ville's Saison-Aus die Welt hinter Matti wieder mal in Scherben liegt. Ausser Janne und Anssi die noch mit 2 Fingern an Mattis Hinterrad klammern ist nix mehr da.

Considering the resources Pekka has got (comparing what Löde got especially for 2009-2010 season), it is not that impressive how things are going. Matti and Ville have been great. But never before has Finland been the nation that could not put up the somehow decent group for the team events. And now that Ville is out, we are very lucky there are no important team events near. Even last year, and without Ahonen, boys put up the decent fight on the team events both at Olympics and ski flying championships. Just now it really doesn't look out too great for Oslo. And when we are talking about national team coaches and their achievements, the team events are the most important ones (at least from Finnish perspective).

We are still early on the season and a lot can happen. I certainly hope the best. But it would be a good thing if Niemelä at least would acknowledge that there is a problem. And the unfortunately problem is with those guys who will also be possible Finnish jumpers for Sotchi. Matti may change his mind after this season and continue a one more year etc. but I don't believe he will continue till next Olympics. And those Olympics are what for Niemelä was hired to and given more resources than Finnjumping really even could have afford.
