Summer GP has been kind of promising for the Finns this far, I think. Of course none has won anything and only one podium place, but it seems that some of the last season's problems have been solved.

Kalle has of course done really well. I don't believe he will be quite as good at winter, but if he could be solid top 15 jumper at winter, it would be awesome.

Matti did better than he usually does at summer, so that is also very good. Rane didn't do too well, but he is still behind in training because of the knee operation, so I'm sure he will do better at winter. I don't believe he will be a competitive top 3 jumper, but like last season solid top 10 and that is also good. (And do much better than that at the 4H, it really is his speciality.)

Kai did few good jumps and that is nice for him. Ville is still recovering from his injury so we probably didn't see the best from him yet.

Harri was first incredible uneven even for him, but last few competitions he has been surprisingly stable. And what is more important, it seems like they have found a solution to his speed problems, which would be really important. In these last competitions he has also mainly jumped to tailwind (even today at first round) and still he has done ok. We have not seen anything really impressive from him, but stable jumps to hard conditions (for him) are really a good thing.

They have invested lot to the equipments and knowledge and it seems to be working (let's just hope they can find the money they have already spent somewhere.) Also situation in the team seems to be more stable. Rane's comeback and the incredible hype of it last season really made things difficult, but now that has also stabilized. Hype is mostly dead (except if you ask MTV3 or when the 4H will start) and it is clear that this will not be Team Ahonen like it was in the past (last year it was just Team Quarrel.) The focus is clearly on the younger jumpers and Rane (and Matti) are more like welcomed visiting stars. And that could work, if younger ones has a solid team spirit among themselves and they don't need to feel threaten of the Ahonen hype. It also seems that at least Rane and Harri have buried a hatchet at least publicly. Both have given statements how they come along better now etc. Of course the problem now can be that Kalle gains self confidence from his success and becomes impossible (rumours are that he can be even more pain in the ass than Harri when he puts his mind into it, and after all he was the one who got the single room at the Olympics and not because he was the oldest or the star or something like that.)

But anyway. It seems more promising for Finns than last year. Let's just hope they will find a sponsor or four or they will be in the real trouble by spring.
