Carlisle made official what we kind of already knew, that the team plans for J-Ho to make a preseason game appearance in the last week of the schedule.
"The hope is that he can play toward the latter part of exhibition season,’’ said Carlisle. “(But) it's Mother Nature you're dealing with. He had a minor reconstruction of his left ankle. It's a significant procedure. And the prognosis is excellent. We just got to make sure we're following the right steps."

Dirk trifft nix, aber hat ne gute Entschulding:

Dirk Nowitzki blamed travel issues for his poor shooting performance after making only three of 12 shots from the floor in the preseason opener.

"I told the guys I took a first-class flight and my jumper took a boat," Dirk said, cracking up the media horde around his locker. "The boat hasn't arrived yet. As soon as it comes, I'll be all right."

Dirk exaggerated slightly when he said he hadn't hit a shot since the Mavs reported to training camp, but he is in a shooting funk. He's getting used to the speed of the game again after not playing for the German national team this summer, a first in his NBA career.

After a rough patch in his personal life, the goofy German still has his sense of humor. His shooting touch will be back soon enough.

Now, that’s a lot of medical jibber-jabber right there; It’s “minor’’ but it’s “reconstruction’’ but it’s “significant’ but it’s “an excellent prognosis.’’

I can’t follow all that …maybe because I am still distracted by Josh’s suit coat, which looks exactly like a tuxedo jacket that I wore to my 1976 high-school prom.

dirk ist ja mal echt dünn geworden. ich bin gespannt wie sich das in der reg. season auswirkt.

Jop, hat wirklich noch dünnere Ärmchen, als vorher...

Gooden und Humphries waren wirklich nice vom Einsatz her, auch Barea. Ross sollte man das ballern auf den Korb verbieten, die Offense von dem ging ja mal gar nich. Der Jet war irgendwie, genau wie der Dörkster, noch gar nich so richtig in Fahrt.

Will Marion endlich im Mavs Trikot spielen sehen.

Offensiv hat Gooden auch bei uns letztes Jahr gute Leistungen gezeigt. Er hat einen sehr soliden Midrange-Jumper und hat auch im Post einige Moves zu bieten. Er kann durchaus effizient scoren und auch mal ein Team zeitweise scoringmäßig tragen. Das Problem in San Antonio war halt seine Defense. Mag sein, dass das bei einem Lowscoring Team, dass von jeher Wert auf gute Defense legt, mehr ins Gewicht fällt. Aber da waren seine Auftritte teils wirklich unterirdisch. Zudem konnte er beim Rebound nicht so überzeugen, wie man sich das erwartet hat.

Ich bin jedenfalls gespannt, welche Entwicklung er bei den Mavs nimmt.

Bei uns würde es ja FAST schon ausreichen wenn er für den Gegner offensiv die gewünschte Gefahr darstellt damit sein Verteidiger bei ihm bleibt und sich nicht wie sonst immer im Doubleteam auf Dirk stürzen kann.

Das scheint ja anscheinend aufzugehen.

Defensiv muß man jetzt eben sehen was er da bringen kann wenn er voll motiviert rangeht. Er wird nie ein guter Verteidiger werden, aber mit guten Willen geht da ja evt Durchschnitt. Und mal sehen ob Marion/Howard/Josh da auch etwas mitausbügeln können.

“Yeah, that’s the whole idea,’’ owner Mark Cuban says. “We don’t want to rush him back. He’s getting a lot better. It’s one of those ‘if-it-was-the-playoffs-he-could-play’ things.
