Ich sah gestern den sehr empfehlenswerten Fim "million dollar baby" !
Lucia Reijker spielt dabei eine Hauptrolle. Ich denke, sie ist mit Abstand die beste Boxerin der letzten Jahre. Konnte sie mal live bei einer Kickbox-Gala in Karlsruhe sehen (vor ca. 15 Jahren) ! Auch im Kickboxen war sie ungeschlagen bzw. unschlagbar und hat fast alle ihrer 36 Kämpfe durch KO in Runde 1 gewonnen.
Mittlerweile ist sie 37 Jahre alt und noch immer ungeschlagen. Mann kann ja über Frauenboxen schmunzeln oder lästern aber diese Lucia Reijker ist schon eine Maschine. Ihr Trainer ist übrigens Freddie Roach.

Und sie bekommt jetzt ihren "Million Dollar Fight" gegen Martin.

Hab den Film auch letzte Woche gesehen und fand Ihn auch sehr gut, wenn auch das Ende sehr tragisch war.

Begeistert war ich von den Box-Szenen. Die waren größenteils besser als das, was ich im deutschen Fernsehen an Frauenboxen bisher gesehen habe. Und besser als in den meisten Männer-Box-Filmen. Da war ich echt baff.

Superstars Christy Martin and Lucia Rijker will collide in Top Rank's 'Million Dollar Lady' showdown with the winner to earn a purse of $1,000,000 at the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino in Las Vegas on Saturday, July 30. It's a riveting, sensational matchup announced today by Bob Arum of Top Rank. Martin vs. Rijker will be on Showtime Pay Per View. Arum said he will soon announce a compelling undercard. Martin and Rijker will each be guaranteed $250,000 with the winner to receive an additional $750,000. Martin has a record of 45-3-2 with 31 knockouts. Rijker is 17-0 with 14 knockouts. The superfight is scheduled for 12 rounds. Martin, born and raised in Bluefield, West Virginia, says she will win and collect the bonus monies. "Lucia Rijker is a bully, like the ones you see on a schoolyard playground," said Christy. "Like all bullies, once you stand up and fight they always back down. I will show the world and make it all happen on July 30." Both are star performers who strike with power. Rijker, born in Amsterdam and now living and training in Los Angeles, has taken on and defeated top competition for years. She is an extremely hard puncher who attacks early in her bouts. Rijker also appeared, as boxer Billie Blue Bear, in Clint Eastwood's award-winning movie Million Dollar Baby.

Die Kampfansetzung ist insofern schade, da Christy Martin schon weit über ihren Zenit hinaus ist. Gegen Mia St John tat sie sich sehr schwer und der Kampf gegen Laila Ali war ein Mismatch.

KIM AND ZURITA CLASH MAY 6
Women's Boxing's youngest world champion Juhee Kim of South Korea, has issued a challenge to former IFBA Flyweight Champion Maribel Zurita to fight for Kim's 108 pound title. Kim made it clear to her promoters in Korea that she wanted Zurita, after reading about Zurita's dissatisfaction with the outcome of Zurita's fight against Shin Hee Choi in China. "Maribel Zurita won her world title in Korea, but when she felt she was treated unfairly in China, she complained loudly about the South Korean judging and referee" said Kim. "I want to give her a chance to return to Korea and fight right away, so she will see that we are fair and honest in the way we treat foreign competitors" Kim continued.

Zusammen mit Alicia Ashley, Elena Reid, Melinda Cooper, In-Young Lee und Mariana Juarez wohl die Boxerinnen, die Regina Halmich bei einem Duell mit fairem Kampfgericht den "Titel" abnehmen würden.

Reijker ist ein Jahr älter als Martin, insofern kann das keine Ausrede sein. Reijker hätte Martin wohl ohnehin zu jedem Zeitpunkt der letzten 15 Jahre zerlegt, aber warten wir mal ab was passiert.

Laila Ali ist ja ne ganz andere Gewichtsklasse als Martin, von daher war das ganze ja sowieso ne Farce.

Christy Martin galt bis zu ihrer Niederlage gegen Sumya Anani als P4P Nr.1 bei den Frauen. Lucia Rijker ist zwar ein paar Monate älter, hat aber deutlich weniger Kämpfe bestritten. Sie hat auch weniger gute Namen im Kampfrekord.

Ob sie Christy Martin zu jeder Zeit ihrer Karriere zerlegt hätte, wage ich zu bezweifeln. Im anstehenden Kampf wird sie das zweifellos tun.

Darf ich mal fragen, was dich zu der Annahme kommen lässt, Rijker bestritt seit 1999 nur 3 Kämpfe musste zuletzt gegen eine 8-4 Dame über 10 Runden gehen, warum sollte sie nicht ähnlich "shot" wie Martin sein?

Auch die Gewichtsklasse würde mich interessieren, Rijker zuletzt 134, Martin 159 bzw. 144 Pfund...

Ashley will never be able to make 112. A fight against Graf would be great for her. Halmich will beat Reid clearly next time around. Melinda Cooper is a boxer that everybody should stay away from. She's hell! Lee won't be able to beat Regina. She's highly overrated and is just as much protected.

Rijker has been hurting women's boxing by not staying busy and by not taking on the top girls in her division. Boxing and kickboxing are two very different sports. Being great at one sport doesn't mean you get a free ride in the other sport. She was always asking way too much money and was being unrealistic. She has fantastic technique but she is mentally weak, believe it or not. She has been running just as hard from Anani as Martin has been running from her. Martin is a washed up pumpkin now (because she DID take chances later on in her career) in need of money and even with a bonus she won't be too motivated. Had they done it 7 years ago, I would have picked Martin any time. Simply because Martin didn't give a shit about how her face would look and always had bad intentions. Not many people care for this fight anymore. If Arum doesn't get enough positive feedback, he might cancel that show alltogether. The date and venue has already been changed once.

If there is one person that deserves a payday like that it's Anani. She beat Martin, fought almost all top girls, and Rijker been running like the wind from her. It's disgusting to see how true warriors like Jeffries, McCarter, Moraetes, Mueller, Collins, Holewyne, Sjauw, Halback, Serrano, Anani, Caples etc etc etc are not being rewarded for taking on the best of best during their careers.

Because Rijker never took any chances and avoided the best in her division like the plaque. Martin did fight everybody at the end. Rijker is a safety fighter where Martin was always a straight forward banger. That's why Maritn is washed up.

The fightweight for this fight is 142 I believe. So Martin will have to kill herself to make that weight which is another reason I am not intersted in this farce.

Ich habe die Rijker einfach ein paar mal kämpfen gesehen und das war für mich das Beste was ich von einer Frau je sah. Mag sein, daß sie zuletzt mehr ihre Schauspiel-Karriere forcierte.
Moi scheint ja Näheres zu wissen.......ich muß zugeben, daß ich mich in der Frauen-Box-Szene nicht allzu gut auskenne. Da Reijker ja ursprünglich aus Holland stammt (wo ja das Kickboxen sehr populär, siehe viele Weltklasse-Leute) kennt sie Moi bestimmt besser.

The thing is that we can only GUESS how great Rijker is. But we won't know until she fights the best of the best. You need to fight the best in order to compare yourself with the rest. Talk alone doesn't cut it. Neither do just "fantastic tools" cut it.

Gegen Elena Reid kam sie mit 116 in den Ring sehe keinen Grund, warum sie nicht 112 schaffen sollte.

Halmich will beat Reid clearly next time around.

Glaube ich nicht. Es gab nichts in dem Kampf, was Reid nicht besser als Halmich konnte. Halmich fand trotz ihrer großen Erfahrung kein Mittel gegen Elena Reid.

Melinda Cooper is a boxer that everybody should stay away from. She's hell!

Gerade deshalb sollte Halmich sich ihr stellen. Allerdings weiss sie genau, wie der Kampf ausgehen würde. LTKO.

Lee won't be able to beat Regina. She's highly overrated and is just as much protected.

Würde ich nicht sagen, sie hat erst neun Kämpfe. Der Sieg gegen Ju-Hee Kim (schöner rechter Haken zum Kopf in der vierten Runde) war sehr eindrucksvoll. Der Kampf gegen Yvonne Caples war sehr spannend. Eine knappe aber vertretbare Entscheidung für eine fast ständig im Vorwärtsgang boxende In-Young Lee

Richtig. Ob sie psychische Schwächen hat, kann ich nicht beurteilen. Technisch ist sie super. Eine der wenigen Frauen, die gemessen am Maßstab der Männer tatsächlich boxen können. Beeindruckend übrigens ihr Sieg gegen Mary Ann Almager, die man als ersten echten Prüfstein bezeichnen konnte. Auch der Punktsieg über Sunshine Fettkether war nie gefährdet.

Stimmt. Sumya Anani ist für mich zusammen mit Ann Wolfe derzeitige P4P Nr.1. Auch ansonsten stimme ich Dir zu.
