He had an ice bag pressed against his lower back as he shuffled out of the Suns training room — a place he figures to spend more time in the near future.
But Steve Nash doesn’t feel his chronic left hamstring, which has once again flared up this week — will cause him to miss much if any time and the right knee he twisted before Wednesday’s win over Boston was feeling much better.
“The knee is fine,” said Nash, who skipped Thursday’s light practice. “As for the hammy, I played with it for three months last year, so things could be a lot worse. I think it’s manageable.”
Nash said the problem starts in his back, which was aggravated by all the planes, vans and buses he traveled in during All-Star weekend.
He also sat on the bench during Saturday and Sunday’s All-Star activities, instead of his normal game routine of laying with his back on the floor.
“Sitting down being in a slumped position, my posture, it all has an effect on my back which in turn has an effect on my hamstrings,” he said. “The bad news is it’s not feeling great, but the good news is I think we have a good handle. Right now my thought is to play (Saturday against Charlotte).
“It’s frustrating because I’ve felt healthier this year than I’ve had in forever, then I come back and I have a hammy.”
