QuelleWarriors President Robert Rowell, who announced the suspension, and Chris Mullin, vice president of basketball operations, disagreed about the severity of the punishment. Rowell, who said the injury was a "very big deal," did not rule out potentially trying to void Ellis' contract if the player does not return to previous form.
QuelleI asked Rowell if he wanted or expected Mullin to come back after this season, and he answered coolly.
"Chris has a year on his contract," Rowell said. "Nellie has a year on his contract. We have a lot of work to do. And we're going to evaluate and make the appropriate decisions along the way."
Nelson confirmed Monday what had been obviously building over the past 10 days: DeMarcus Nelson will complete his local-boy-makes-good story by opening opposite Chris Paul when the Warriors tip off for real on Oct. 29.
DeMarcus Nelson will start Tuesday alongside Stephen Jackson, Corey Maggette, Al Harrington and Andris Biedrins in the Warriors’ exhibition finale against Lithuanian side Lietuvos Rytas.
Although Nelson acknowledged in a group interview session earlier this week that "an ass-kicking veteran team that would have a chance to win a title is what I deserve at 68,"(...)
Golden State Warriors coach Don Nelson has agreed to a two-year contract extension with the club, the coach confirmed Saturday.
"It wasn't my idea," Nelson said, according to the San Jose Mercury News. "It was fine with me to weigh it year to year. But they came to me and wanted me to commit to three years and, uh, I'm pretty excited about it. It's quite an honor really to be wanted. At my age, you're lucky if anybody wants you. Hopefully your wife."
