Einige interessante Randaspekte was Scoring und neue Techniken angeht:
With tonight’s Showtime card taking place in Puerto Rico under the auspices of the Puerto Rico Boxing Commission, we will see some WBC rules in use that normally aren’t in effect at U.S. boxing venues.
For both the title defense of WBC super lightweight champion Danny Garcia against Mauricio Herrera, and the WBC heavyweight final elimination fight between Deontay Wilder and Malik Scott,
open scoring will be used, with official scores of the judges revealed at the end of the fourth and eighth rounds.
Also per WBC rules, in the event of an accidental cut, a point will automatically be deducted from the uncut boxer.
Instant Replay, which is legal in Puerto Rico but hasn’t been used to date, will be available to officials as a pilot program.
Finally, the computerized ringside score administration system developed by the Mohegan Tribe will be used as a pilot program. That system uses handheld tablets for the judges to record their scoring substituting the paper cards, making scoring faster and scoring administration automatic. The Puerto Rico Commission will still rely on paper cards, but it is allowing the electronic scoring system to be tested as a pilot program for judges’ and supervisors’ usage.
