Maskaev vs. Vitali 2 ?
23.01.2005
"History will repeat itself," were the words of Dennis Rappaport, manager of WBC #5 heavyweight Oleg Maksaev when asked about a potential fight with WBC champ Vitali Klitschko. Rappaport was referring to when his fighter knocked out Klitschko in the amateurs. "Look what happened when De La Hoya fought Mosley and when Shane fought Vernon Forrest. The same thing will happen again if Oleg can fight Vitali," said Rappaport, who added that Maskaev may still fight in the Ukraine. Speaking to Fightnews after Maskaev's win over Navarre, Rappaport added "Klitschko versus Rahman is a complete joke. My guy has beaten both of them. The heavyweight division right now is the worst I have seen." The New York-based manager added he will go to extremes to make a Klitschko/Maskaev fight happen. "If I have to go to Russia and put billboard signs to embarass him I'll do that. I am going to get real aggressive. Oleg is by far the most improved heavyweight I have been around."
