Orlando Magic - Dinge, die keinen eigenen Thread verdienen

letztlich kann man doch sagen, dass das so ziemlich alles murks war, was das management in den letzten jahren gemacht hat !!!

angefangen mit dem wallace - hill trade, dem t-mac - franchise trade, dann der folgende mobley - christie trade (wer von beiden spielt heute noch? antwort: natürlcih nciht der von orlando!) und die ganzen kleinen deals dazwischen nicht zu vergessen die auch verkackt wurden ... das management hat es meiner ansicht nach die ganzen jahre über verkackt, ähnlich den jungs in NY, nur nciht ganz soo stark.

Gut, man hätte Wallace behalten können, aber man entschied sich gegen ihn.

Ansonsten war dieser Trade super. Konnte ja keiner ahnen das Hill nie wieder der Alte wird. Denn es steht wohl ausser Frage , das ein gesunder Hill + T-Mac die Magic immer in die Playoffs geführt hätten.

habe gerade mit meinem Buddy gesprochen und der meinte das die Gespräche mit den Pistons ziemlich weit sind. Der First Rounder wird allerdings nur als proteced (für die ersten 8 Picks) angeboten.

hoffentlich geht der trade ueber die buehne,denn mit cato verlieren wir nichts und im Gegenzug bekommen wir zwei sehr talentierte spieler,die uns sofort weiterbringen koennen...

ich frage,weil mir das spanisch vorkommt,da denver doch recht viel abgibt fuer Francis(Watson,Nene,Martin,Lenard)... es sei denn die bekommen noch Ppenny und Lee von den knicks...

Der trade waere auf jeden Fall sehr gut fuer uns...

die Pistons brauchen einen PG wenn Arroyo getraded wird, egal wie...Lindsey Hunter ist KEIN PG, er kann nicht schiessen, nicht passen, nicht den ball nach vorn bringen, der kann nur defenden... es war ein pain in the ass Hunter als einzigen sub für Billups und RIP zuzusehen in den Finals, worst FG% in den playoffs ever, sprechen für sich...sowas geht einfach nich

Das wäre in der Tat richtig heftig gut für die Magic, kann ich mir auch kaum vorstellen

Und soviel wäre das gar nicht für Denver: Watson ist Luxus/unnötig hinter Miller und Boykins, hinter Nene steht ein großes Fragezeichen wie er zurückkommen wird (bzw wäre er im Sommer wohl eh weg gewesen), Lenard ist ein alter Krüppel und Martin ist ein Krüppel mit Max und ohne einen genialen Kidd etc eigentlich nur Durchschnitt. Ist wohl auch Denver mittlerweile aufgefallen.

da hast du natürlich recht. deshalb bin ich auch ein sehr skeptisch. in der jetzigen situation kann man richtig viel richtig machen. aber auch falsch...
also abwarten.

wenn die deals so gemacht werden dann würde ich mich ordentlich freuen, denn das wäre meiner meinung ein schritt nach vorn.

Ich gehe einfach mal - sofern tatsächlich noch getradet werden sollte -, vom schlimmsten Szenario aus. Ausgehend davon ist die Wahrscheinlichkeit, zur Deadline wieder mal himmelhochjauchzend und enttäuscht hier rumzusitzen, doch sehr gering. Ich rechne daher also fest damit, daß Dwight Howard für die Rechte an Jerome James bei den Knicks landet, und Jameer Nelson uns mit unserem 1st Rounder verlässt und jemanden wie Devean George einbringt. So wird es kommen, und damit bin ich zumindest, was die Erwartungshaltung angeht, schonmal auf der sicheren Seite. :thumb:

Neuesten Gerüchten zufolge müssten wir aber, wenn wir seinen Rollstuhl dazu haben wollen, noch einen 2nd Rounder mit abgeben.

Der andere Insider sagte dazu gerade folgendes:

I am told that the Darko deal is all but done depending on the protection of the first round pick, including possibly Deiner and when the Magic/Pistons want to pull it off. It will probably happen after the AllStar break if it does. From a PR perspective, the Magic would prefer the trade take place after the AllStar break and be in the news to hopefully excite some fans and their ticket sales.

Wanna talk marketing and ticket sales and the approach management wants to take regarding that and I can talk to you all day long.

I also think Dumars put a lot out in the paper to see if any team makes a better offer than what he has cooking with the Magic. So if a team comes up with an expiring contract and more than a first round pick you may see things change but I doubt it.

Da bin ich ja mal gespannt. Ich bin mir ja eigentlich recht sicher, daß sich Otis am Ende des Tages doch wieder ziemlich über den Tisch ziehen lassen wird. panik:

NBA front-office sources told ESPN.com on Tuesday night that the Pistons and Orlando Magic were close to completing a long-discussed trade that would relocate Milicic, 2003's No. 2 overall pick, to central Florida. The trade could be completed as early as Wednesday, sources said, with only one potential snag.

The sides, according to sources, are bartering over the extent of lottery protection Orlando would have on the first-round pick it has agreed to send Detroit along with center Kelvin Cato for Milicic and guard Carlos Arroyo.

It's thought Orlando is seeking to retain this year's first-round pick -- and convey its 2007 first-rounder to Detroit instead -- if the Magic's pick winds up in the top seven of the June draft. The deal would collapse if the sides can't come to a resolution -- with Detroit looking to reduce Orlando's level of protection by a few spots -- but it's clear the Pistons have made the decision to move Milicic before the Feb. 23 trading deadline after giving him a chance to earn a rotation spot under new coach Flip Saunders.

Milicic hasn't played much more for Saunders than he did for Larry Brown, unleashing a new wave of second-guesses on Detroit's decision to draft the Serbian 7-footer over Carmelo Anthony, Chris Bosh and Dwyane Wade ... even though the Pistons won the championship in Darko's rookie season and came within one game of a repeat title last season.

Yet, even if Milicic had established himself as a rotation regular under Saunders, it's doubtful the Pistons could have afforded to retain him beyond this summer. With Ben Wallace bound for free agency in July and Chauncey Billups expected to seek a lucrative contract extension before becoming a free agent in the summer of 2007, Detroit needs Cato's expiring contract ($8.6 million this season) to create the salary-cap space to re-sign both comfortably and keep together its vaunted starting lineup.

After Wallace and Billups re-sign, all five Pistons starters will possess contracts averaging at least $10 million per season -- an NBA rarity but a necessity for Pistons president Joe Dumars given the success and relative youth (Ben Wallace and Rasheed Wallace are both 31) of the group.

While Orlando continues to explore its Steve Francis trade options, this move would give Milicic a chance to play immediately alongside franchise forward Dwight Howard. It might also eventually give the Magic two highly touted but unproven European big men for its frontcourt rotation, with the Magic still hopeful they will have 2005 first-round pick Fran Vazquez (who controversially elected to play in Spain this season) in the near future.

Nett. Falls man sich noch auf den Pick einigt. Hoffentlich wenigstens Top7 protected für die Magic.

Ich hoffe jetzt wirklich nur, daß Darko wirklich die Kurve bekommt. Es gab ja schon genug Leute, die Talent ohne Ende hatten, aber doch nie die Kurve bekommen haben. Zu gönnen wäre es den Magic nach dem ganzen Pech der letzten Jahre auf jedenfall (Stichwort Hill). Und falls sich dann Fran doch mal in 2-3 Jahren evt mal nach Orlande verirrt, dann könnten die Magic im FC eine nette Zukunft vor sich haben.

Mit Nelson/Arroyo kann man jetzt auch getrost Francis gegen was auch immer abschießen.

Bleib ruhig Joe, noch ist ja nichts verloren und Otis hat noch immer die Chance, einiges falsch zu machen.

Bucher was on NBA coast to coast and supposedly said the deal looks like what has been rumored and could/would/should happen within 24 hours. Darko+Arroyo for Cato+1st, no word on the protection of the pick.

Florida Today - The Orlando Magic have discussed a deal sending injured center Kelvin Cato and a future first-round pick to Detroit for power forward Darko Milicic and point guard Carlos Arroyo.

Magic assistant general manager Otis Smith told FLORIDA TODAY on Friday the deal was in the works. Tuesday, he denied an ESPN.com report the deal was close to finalized.

"I don't have a deal at this time," Smith said. "It's still a ways away. It's 50-50 right now."

Adding Arroyo would give the Magic five point guards on the roster and could trigger another blockbuster move involving Steve Francis. Denver and New York are rumored to have interest in the three-time All-Star.

The holdup is the protection of the draft pick the Magic would be giving up. Orlando wants to retain the pick if it is one of the top seven of this June's draft. If that happens, Detroit would get the Magic's 2007 draft pick. [READ]

Chris Sheridan/ESPN - Steve Francis is being strongly sought by the desperate New York Knicks , who want to pair him in the backcourt with Stephon Marbury in a bid to save their season.

Two sources involved in the Francis trade discussions told ESPN.com on Tuesday that New York is actively pursuing Francis, who is being shopped full throttle by the Orlando Magic .

The Denver Nuggets remain in the hunt for Francis, but they are not the leading option as they were a few days ago. The Minnesota Timberwolves also were trying to stay in the mix, looking for a third team to take on players Orlando is not interested in.

New York was believed to be offering Penny Hardaway, Jamal Crawford and at least one other player, likely Trevor Ariza, David Lee or Nate Robinson, in a deal in which the Knicks would also take back center Kelvin Cato, whose $8.64 million salary comes off the cap at the end of the season.

Cato would have to be included along with Francis ($13.7 million) to provide a match for the salaries of Hardaway ($15.75 million), Crawford ($6.5 million) and the third player, be it Robinson ($1.2 million), Lee (860,000) and/or Ariza $640,000).
