wegen den shootern würde ich korver oder ray allen mitnehmen. oder q-rich aber er spielt keine gute saison. naja aber ich würde lieber AI anstat kb8 mitnehmen. kobe ist nunmal ein egozocker und iverson wäre bestimmt bereit viel weniger schüsse zu nehmen wenn man ihm sagt das ers machen soll. und er will ja auch wm gold.

Nach dem was Iverson bei Olympia gezeigt, verdient er keine weitere Chance im US-Team. Kobe Bryant ist für internationales Spiel deutlich besser geeignet als Iverson, zudem ist der größer und treffsicher aus der Distanz. Und clutch bis Oberkante Unterlippe.

Du solltest genauer lesen.

Die Leistung des Team USA (nämlich der Bronze-Gewinn) war nicht blamabel.

Iversons Leistung (34/90 aus dem Feld) war grauenhaft.

Ich fälle keine Pauschalurteile. Die Kritik bezog sich nur auf Iverson, nicht auf das ganze Team USA. Eigentlich hab ich das ziemlich deutlich geschrieben.

halte j.j. reddick auch für ne gute idee.

würde eher kobe als Iverson mitnehmen. allleine wenn kobe das niveau aus der saison ist er mMn ein deutliches level höher als iverson. außerdem hat kobe den besser 3er. ja die quote ist zwar schlechter aber kobe nimmt viele 3er gegen den mann!

Naja, seine 3er-Quote war ja schonmal fast überdurchschnittlich im Vergleich zum Gesamtteam, oder!?
Alleine weil er nicht wie manch anderer den Schwanz eingezogen hat und bei Olympia dabei war, hätte er eine zweite Chance mMn verdient. Und es gäbe sicher auch Platz für Kobe und AI!?
Aber zumindest die reinen Quoten und Assistzahlen sprechen nicht für ihn, da muss ich dir recht geben.

man sollte glaub ich aber auch nicht vergessen das iverson damals von einer sehr schlechten saison gekommen ist wo er ständig verletzt war.......ich denke er ist heuer ein kleines bisschen besser als damals,auch seine wurfquote ist nicht schlecht,fast 46%!
ich glaube man sollte beide mitnehmen,iverson ist vor allem mit ganzem herzen dabei,das ist sehr viel wert heut zu tage
und woher wollen alle wissen das die 2 nicht harmonieren? hat sie irgendwer mal irgendwann schon gemeinsam spielen sehen??
jedenfalls spielen beide zur zeit die beste saison ihrer karriere und sind meiner meinung nach 2 von den 5 besten spielern in der nba!
also warum nicht beide mitnehmen!

The Phoenix Suns' All-Star forward said Monday that he has been told by the head of USA Basketball, Jerry Colangelo, that he will be among those selected to the team. "It's challenging, man, it's an honor and a privilege always," Marion told KTVK-TV in Phoenix before the team left for Orlando, "given the opportunity to go out and represent the country again, which I love doing."

Colangelo, contacted Monday night, stopped just short of confirming Marion's selection. "I've spoken with Shawn some time ago and he certainly indicated he wanted to be a part of this thing," Colangelo said. "He's the kind of individual and player who personifies what you want to represent you."

AUBURN HILLS -- It appears, barring any unforeseen snag, Chauncey Billups will have a spot on the U.S. men's basketball team -- if he wants one.

"We want him to play," said Jerry Colangelo, who is in charge of assembling the team that will play in the World Championships this summer, potentially another qualifying tournament in the summer of 2007 and in the Olympics in 2008.

Colangelo said he planned to speak to Billups today. The only concern is a possible conflict this summer. Billups' wife, Piper, is expecting to deliver their third child in July or August.

"Would we be flexible with him as far as the pregnancy, absolutely," Colangelo said. "We just need to talk and work out the circumstances."

Billups, who took treatment on his bruised left thigh before flying to New Jersey where he is expected to play against the Nets tonight, declined to comment.

Colangelo said he was also waiting to hear from Tayshaun Prince and Richard Hamilton.

Kobe Bryant and LeBron James already have committed to the team. Shawn Marion, Amare Stoudemire and Allen Iverson are also expected to commit.

Colangelo has said his initial targets for the point guard position were Billups and Jason Kidd. Kidd, who will be 35 in the summer of 2008, has met with Colangelo. He said he wanted to discuss at length with his family before making the commitment.

Other point guards being considered include Gilbert Arenas, Baron Davis, Steve Francis and Kirk Hinrich.

Colangelo is hoping to get final word from Elton Brand, Carmelo Anthony, Dwyane Wade, Shane Battier, Chris Bosh and Marcus Camby.

He hopes to announce the team during All-Star weekend, Feb. 18-19.

HOUSTON - Jerry Colangelo took in a preview this weekend of what Las Vegas will look like.

Not the 2007 All-Star Game in Las Vegas, but the USA Basketball camp this summer to prepare for the World Championship in Japan.

Colangelo, the senior men's national team executive director, watched a good chunk of his USA team and its competition, but he will not make a series of staggered announcements of groups of players starting this week, as originally planned. advertisement

Colangelo will announce the entire group around March 1 at a news conference in Phoenix, in coordination with news conferences around the nation with other players and USA Basketball personnel providing greater exposure. A group of 22 NBA players already have or will soon have USA Basketball contracts coming their way in the mail.

Colangelo also once planned to have an entire "select" team of young potential USA Basketball players join them. Because of undesirable logistics of a camp with more than 30 players, that "select" group will now be limited to Duke's J.J. Redick, Gonzaga's Adam Morrison and Ohio State-bound high school senior Greg Oden.

Colangelo has 28 commitments for 22 spots and one 13-time All-Star weighing his decision - Miami's Shaquille O'Neal.

"Shaq saw me in the elevator and said, 'I'll call you in a week or two,' " Colangelo said. "I said, 'Shaq, there's always a spot for you.' "

Indirectly, Colangelo said he was told that Detroit's Richard Hamilton and Tayshaun Prince will pass because of their expectations that the Pistons will be playing into June.

Colangelo met this weekend with Boston's Paul Pierce and San Antonio's Bruce Bowen, both of whom have expressed desire to be included. He also visited with Orlando's Dwight Howard.

Colangelo was not necessarily referring to those players specifically when he said: "I want to be very sensitive to how they're advised (if they are not among the 22 picks). Because if they are not involved in this go-around, that doesn't mean they will not be involved in consideration moving forward."

Colangelo said the idea of bringing the 2009 NBA All-Star Game to Phoenix was not discussed this weekend in Houston. The league is still trying to solidify plans for 2008, when it is hoped that the game will be staged in New Orleans.

Paris has been brought up in the past for 2009, but Colangelo said that seems impractical. He has been pushing the idea of the 2009 game in Phoenix for two years.

"I'm not sure when we (as a league) will start talking about it," said Colangelo, Suns CEO and chairman. "As far as downtown, we could be ready in '09 because the major hotels and the light rail would be completed."

Bruce Bowen wurde nun offiziell eingeladen, Billups wird im Sommer wohl nicht mitspielen, dann aber bei Olympia.

Ich denke mal das Roster wird aus diesen Spielern ausgewählt:
