Erzähl das nicht den Rockets-Fans, noch sind die nicht dabei
. Ich find die RS (im Westen) spannend wie schon lange nicht mehr. Wer weiß wer da noch rausfällt, einer von den 9 (mit den Blazers sogar 10) muss ja noch zu Hause bleiben.Der unprotected 2010 Pick ist mMn nicht so schlimm, sowohl Nowitzki als auch Howard (+ Dampier und Terry) sind zu diesem Zeitpunkt noch unter Vertrag, was einen Top Ten Pick ja fast schon ausschließt. Aus dem derzeitigen "Core" sind ja nur Kidd und Stackhouse wirklich früher weg.
Mit Nowe, Howard, Terry und dem Rest von Kidd gehen wir schon nicht in die Lottery 2010. Da bin ich mir sicher.

Notebook: Kidd feeling comfortable after first practice
“I will say more than anything that the energy was great,’’ summarized coach Avery Johnson after the workout. “We had some really positive energy. Guys ran hard.’’
We didn’t get to actually watch the practice. But we understand that the “iso’’ offense is already being re-tooled. The explanation: the pre-Kidd Mavs were not a good enough passing team; a Kidd-led Mavs club won’t need to iso because he’ll set everything up.
“It’s kind of like your first day of school or first day of training camp, just trying to catch on,” Kidd said. “We have 29 games left, so most of the guys were great in helping us new guys with the plays. Coach explained it extremely well, so we’ll do some studying tonight and see how our first test goes tomorrow.”
“I’m comfortable already, so it’s just a matter of me getting familiar with some of the guys, knowing where they like to catch the ball, helping them understand that the ball is coming at some point and then go from there,” he said.
Kidd will be in the starting lineup Wednesday night at New Orleans as the Mavs get back to business.
Josh Howard has become a capable jump shooter over the last couple of years, but even he salivates at the thought of Kidd lobbing it up at the rim.
Howard is penciled in as a starter against the Hornets after missing the last two games before the break with a lower back injury. Jerry Stackhouse missed the last four games with a strained hamstring, but he’s been upgraded to questionable. Both practiced Tuesday.

Big Man Plan
The loss of Gana Diop severely alters the center rotation. Diop started during significant stretches the last three seasons, though his playing lately had been limited.
In any event, he’s a 7-footer with an ability to block shots and rebound. Since those guys don’t just grow on trees, the Mavs will make due for now with Juwan Howard, Malik Allen and Brandon Bass backing up Erick Dampier. Neither of the aforementioned three is taller than 6-10.
“We can’t allow as much penetration, especially with our second unit because we’re going to be a little smaller with Malik and Bass and Juwan in there,” Avery Johnson said. “We’re going to have to play it a little bit differently, scramble a little bit more, but we’re going to have to do a better job with dribble penetration because Diop is not going to be back there to alter a lot of those shots.”
The front office is in the market for another big body, but Donnie Nelson admits the pickings are slim. Though a trade is possible before Thursday’s deadline, the most likely options is signing a free agent. The team still has its mid-level exception.

Klingt ja wirklich nach einem durchdachten Trade-Szenario
Ernsthaft, sind die alle da hoffnungslos optimistisch oder einfach verblendet? Man will vorerst mit Allen/Bass/Howard als Backup-C spielen und dann hauen sie raus, dass man die Penetration des Gegners stoppen soll, damit die Backups nicht in Schwierigkeiten kommen? Wer soll das machen? Harris, anyone?Ernsthaft, das ist doch ganz grober Unfug, was da in Dallas passiert. Man erkennt das Problem auf C, erkennt, dass die Penetrations der Gegner Schwieirgkeiten machen werden und hat NIEMANDEN, der diese unterbinden kann. Plus das Zugeständnis, dass man keine Ahnung hat, wen man als Big Body holen soll. Weltklasse-Management.
Ich hoffe, dass das nur leere Worte waren und man intensiv an einem Trade arbeitet, der dieses Mal überraschend kommt. Ansonsten gute Nacht. Ich pack's immer noch nicht.

You could have made the case that, until Kidd's return, Nowitzki was indeed Dallas' best passer and finisher. After just one practice and a flight to New Orleans in advance of Kidd's debut Wednesday, Nowitzki had already seen enough to declare: "He gives me passes that I could only dream about."
Dallas, you see, is the place he's(Kidd) wanted to be since the summer, after a Team USA stint that "made me feel like I could still play at a high level." He's never played with a big man of Nowitzki's caliber or versatility and feels that the "first time around [in Dallas] wasn't a fair shot."

Und wie lange waren die Herren verletzt und wie oft standen die gemeinsam auf dem Feld ?
Naja, warte mal die Playoffs ab, dann wird Kidd DER Star... oder sagen wir, der Mann der das Team führt. Das gute daran wird sein, dass Dirk genau das will und keine Spirenzchen macht...

Meinst du das ernst ? So gesehen wäre jedes Team ein Kandidat für die Lottery. Man kann aber ja nur vom Normalfall ausgehen, sonst fehlt ja die Basis zu sämtlichen Überlegungen. Die Spurs könnten auch morgen mit dem Flugzeug abstürzen, sind sie deshalb heute kein Titelkandidat für dich ?

Contender ist laut den Meinungen vieler hier jemand, der in den NBA-Finals eine Chance hat gegen den West-Champion (mal auf Ostteams bezogen).
New Jersey hatte 2002 in den Finals gegen die Lakers keine Chance und ein Jahr später gegen die Spurs auch nicht, also kein wirklicher Contender, genauso wenig wie die Cavs letztes Jahr. Die letzten Contender aus dem Osten waren die Heat als Champ 2006 und Detroit 2005, die erst nach 7 Spielen gegen die Spurs in den Finals verloren haben, ihnen dabei 3 Klatschen zugefügt haben und es im siebten und alles entscheidendem letzten Spiel sogar Unentschieden stand nach 3 Vierteln, sodass beide absolut an der Spitze der Basketballwelt standen. Sowas ist ein Contender wie auch Detroit 2004 als Champ, aber nicht die Nets 2002 bzw. 2003.
