Flu rules Mabuza off IBF eliminator
Silence Mabuza has pulled out of the IBF bantamweight title eliminator scheduled for April 18 against Colombian national Yonnhy Perez following a throat infection.
The two fighters were programmed as the main undercard of the much awaited IBF junior-lightweight contest between Cassius Baloyi and Malcom Klassen.
However a source close to Mabuza, who is also the current IBO bantamweight champion, confirmed to sabcport.co.za that the IBF mandatory contest would only be taking place some time in May.
"He complained about a pain in the throat, but we suspect flu," a gymmate of Mabuza says.
Neither Mabuza's promoter Branco Milenkovic nor trainer Nick Durandt could be reached for comment.
The fight would have been Mabuza's first since his fifth round stoppage against Damian David Marchiano in defence of his IBO crown in May last year.
