In fact, all of his 9 jumps this week in Planica were over 200 meters! After all, he was ski-flying world champion....18 years ago! Schlierenzauer was 2 years old then :D: Amazing!

Of course that Ammann is simply too good at the moment, but that is not the point. You can't decide before the competition that he is unbeatable, no matter how good he is! Otherwise, what is the purpose of him competing... Windregel was also the problem today, because I simply don't believe...

This is not the point. If even one athlete has zero chance of victory, only because of rules, that means that rules are wrong. And just in final round today, 18 jumpers had zero chance of winning that round. And what strikes me most, these rules were brought in the first place because of fairness.

Die 'jungs' like Kasai, Uhrmann or Hautamaeki. ;) But they were given ZERO chance to beat him. How can this be fair from sporting perspective? This is much more unfair than good/bad weather conditions.

Of course he is. But for ex. first 18 jumpers from the final round had 0% chance of beating him in the last jump. What if this was 1 round competition? For ex., even with the old rules jumper had possibility to lower the gate if he thinks it is unsafe for him to jump (but he did not receive any...

And another thing - Kasai(12.) actually had total distance score 2 meters longer than Schlierenzauer(2.), but he finished 93.2 points behind him! (93.2 pts - 77.5 meters!) FIS :rolleyes: Nori :jap: distance only : 1. Ammann 895.5m 2. Hajek 873.5m 3. Kasai 869.5m 3. Jacobsen 869.5m 5...

Gate Regel is nicht fair. Ammann jumped 236.5m from gate 14. First 18 jumpers jumped from gate 22 - so they needed to jump 262m to be equal with Ammann. And that is - impossible :D:

In total distance score, Kasai was 2 meters longer than Schlierenzauer and equal with Jacobsen! True legend!

Of course that 'old (original) rules' could also be very unfair in some situations, but even if 'new rules' have some advantages, potential disadvantages are much bigger in my opinion. I simply think that we could improve 'fairness' element by many other ways, and not changing the very basic...

Reading some of the comments here, I must notice that some of you would prefer 'new rules' even if we were jumping in indoor arenas, etc. perfect conditions. The bottom line is that new rules are unnecessary in 80% of competitions, otherwise we would had many more cancellations during past...

Try saying that to Kuettel. He was 6th in the normal hill just days before, and he is(was) always good especially during big championships. But it is always a problem if a big championship is decided on only 1 round basis - no matter who is a winner. Of course, this could be solved easily, but...
