Finnjumping has some innovative ways to handle poor performances in SGPA. ffft:

They simply don't acknowledge that there was any competition. Not even a single news in Finnish press about a competition yesterday because Finnjumping keeps it shush and doesn't have any bulletin for press about it. All the real ski jumping reporters are on the summer vacation and the winter sport reporters on call are too busy with Mika Myllylä's funeral so Finnjumping will probably be able to just 'forget' yesterday, never admit it happen and move on and no one will notice. Good for them. :

What the H*** is wrong with Finns' knees? :donk: Or their muscle maintenance or training or jumping technique? This can not be just a coincidence any more (and it's not even the hills, half of these have happened else where than in Finland.) Last three years we have had 5 broken knees (and mostly cruciate ligaments), how many have other national team's had? Not many...

And poor, poor Ville ;( ;( ;(

Meine Meinung: Janne und Ville sollten es ganz lassen. Sie hatten ein paar schöne Jahre, schöne Erfolge, aber Gesundheit geht vor.

Man sieht ja ganz klar dass es nicht mehr wird.

Hei, just to say "Hey give it up boys!" is a really bad attitute. Well, Ville is young and strong enough to come back for Sotchi and you don't know how it works with 'I-never-give-up'-Havus knee.

So, very very unhappy..but..just wait and see...Good luck, guys..

Man kann Ville jetzt nur alles Gute wünschen und hoffen, dass er nicht einen zu großen mentalen Schock hat.
In Pekkas Haut möchte ich auch nicht stecken, er war so voller Hoffnung.

Little bit more about the matter from Ilta-Sanomat. They have talked with Ville's doctor. He is not straightforwardly saying this was because trying to come back too early. But he does talk about how it takes year and a half to fully recover from this kind of operation, how risk to get hurt again during that time is bigger and how important it is to rehab all the supportive elements before putting too much pressure to the knee. He says that after this operation they have to be more patient, do longer rehab etc. That it is extremely important to train thigh muscle back to perfect before putting that kind of strain to the knee. He also says that this will not end Ville's career but they had to do that kind of operation that may cause some problems (osteoarthritis) later in life.

I really hope that Ville will be more patient this time and not try to jump next springl. It's of course easy to say hindsight, but Ville already had a scare at Stams. And he wouldn't have lost so much if he would have left it to first snow to jump again.

I also hope, that Havu really halts and takes a notice. His knee has been operated twice in little more than a year. He too had his second injury without any falling or clear folding/error in landing. Of course it was a very long jump but the landing wasn't from that high. Ville hurt his knee this time without falling and while jumping perfectly normal length jump (117 meters in Kuopio hill) and having normal landing and no obvious reason for the injury. As bad as it would make Finnish team look, I wouldn't mind at all, if Havu would skip first part of the season, or even the whole season, if it would come to that and really rehab his knee back to normal. This is in-between season. Next season we have the World Championships again and after that the Olympics. We do desperately need both Havu and Ville 100 % well at Sotchi, not so much this season.
