...Arsenal look to be back in the running as the chase to snap up Marseille winger Franck Ribery intensifies.
Agent Bruno Heiderscheid denied holding talks with The Gunners earlier this week, but has now confirmed that manager Arsene Wenger is seriously interested in the 23-year-old.
"Arsene Wenger closely followed Franck during the World Cup and liked him very much, although he knew his qualities already from Marseille," Heiderscheid told The News of the World.
"Arsenal are very interested in Franck, although for the moment they've not made a concrete offer."
Following a series of eye-catching displays at the World Cup Ribery was linked with a host of the continent's top clubs.
However, Manchester United now appear to be concentrating on other areas, while Real Madrid have other options open to them.
Bayern Munich and Lyon have now emerged as frontrunners, and look to be in a three-way tussle with Arsenal for the Frenchman.
The other contenders are Marseille, who are determined to keep hold of their most prized asset, while Ribery's own preference is almost certain to come into the equation.
"A number of other European clubs are also interested, but now it all depends on Marseille, who apparently don't want to sell," said Heiderscheid.
"Franck has not made a decision on his future yet."

Ruud van Nistelrooy`s agent has revealed the player has set his sights on a move to Real Madrid.
The Dutchman is looking for a new club after asking to leave Manchester United earlier this week.
Van Nistelrooy decided to look for pastures new after falling out with Sir Alex Ferguson at the end of last season.
Ferguson revealed that Real, Bayern Munich and another mystery club were all interested in securing the striker's signature.
Van Nistelrooy's agent Roger Linse has confirmed the 30-year-old favours a move to Madrid above the other interested clubs.
"We met with Manchester United to tell them Ruud thought that stage of his career was over," Linse told Marca.
"We know that Madrid want him and the player is also keen to play there.
"Madrid is a dream for any footballer and also for Ruud."
Reports in Spain suggest Real's director of football Pedrag Mijatovic is in Manchester trying to thrash out a deal with United officials to take van Nistelrooy to El Santiago Bernabeu.
