Harri Olli says he has ended his career. He decided that at Sapporo, but says it is not about the bad season. He says it is also not about getting bored with ski jumping per se or some one spesific thing, but just that it is decision you have to make sometime. Apparently not wanting to commit Niemelä's system of lot of camps and emphasis on physical training is one of the issues (though Harri himself doesn't really tell but that is what the reporter seems to think is a reason.) Harri has already found work and is moving to Rovaniemi.

This is really a loss for Finnish ski jumping. It was one great talent more, we really could have not afford to loose. (If he doesn't change his mind later, that wouldn't be that big of a miracle to be honest.)

Anyway, Good luck Hapa, where ever you go and what ever you want to do in future! You will be missed!

(And by the way, also Rane thought of ending his career there and then at Zako. He is not but now Nikunen says that if Rane wants to continue next year and have him as personal coach he has to end racing and show totally different kind of commitment than he showed last summer. It's not considered probable at all, that rane would continue after this season)

Und leider glaub ich auch nicht das er seine Meinung noch mal ändert. Das Kapitel Lahti ist auch abgeschlossen, da er dabei ist sein Haus zu verkaufen usw.

IF he changes his mind, he can very well make a comeback from Rovaniemi. Have a stress free off-season (far from reporters, pressure from national team etc.), train at home and see how that goes. Of course it is a really big if, but I wouldn't be totally astonished if we would see Harri back at some national competitions next season. And if not, I just hope he will find his place in the world and be happy. :up:

Super wenn die alle aufhören. Ob Matti noch weiter macht steht auch noch inne Sterne. Ahonen weg, Olli weg...was soll der *******....Wie soll das nach Sochi aussehen? Wie soll das schon vor Sochi aussehen...

Vielleicht er ist einfach nich in die Lage durch ein tiefe Tal zu gehen. Viele andere, auch sogar in sein Team Kalle zum Beispiel oder beste Beispiel Havu; Matti ebenso sind ein sehr lange Weg gegangen. Dafuer man muss einfach hart sein. Wohl ist er das nicht. Ich sagte es schon vor Beginn von Letzte Saison. Er ist zu wenig Profi. Es ist sehr schade das er so schnell sein Ski in die Tonne wirft. Aber nun ist es so und man kann nur hoffen er findet sein Platz in diese Welt, was auch nicht immer so einfach ist. Fuer finnische Springen es ist ein herber Verlust. So viele Talent läuft ein nicht jeden Tag ueber den Weg.

He tells, that he will end his career. And everyone takes it like a three-year old telling, that he will never ever eat anything at all ever again.

Tiilikainen says "if and when Harri has decided to end his career..."

Toni Nieminen scolds Harri of running away and taking an easy way out and how Harri should man up. And sounds very frustrated on Harri (and I can understand why, he can probably relate easily.)

Kimmo Kykkänen comments that is better to wait and see what happens. That he is sure, that Harri currently feels like that and means, what he is saying, but he is not at all sure, if the decision will be final. That it is good decision for now. To concentrate on putting his life together and to understand that ski jumping is not that important. And after he has his life in order again, he can consider if he would still like to try the sport again.

Also reporters' comments are mostly in line; good decision for him, for now, no one knows, not even Harri himself, what he will be doing next season, or even less at 2014 when Sochi has Olympics. Harri again acting up and being capricious. Iltalehti even asks people, if we believe this will be final decision, 70 % disagrees.

So Harri tries to announce the career end, and everyone just rolls their eyes and talks about temper tantrums and drama queens :hihi:

Well, anyway. I sincerely hope, that Harri gets his life together. After that it will be time for studies and career or maybe come back to the sports, if he wants to. And whatever he decides I hope, he will be happy with it.

Ich kann mir so sehr denken, dass er genau jetzt fühlt, dass es das richtige ist aufzuhören. Ich versteh ihn so sehr. Aber vllt findet er wirklich dir Kraft und den Mut nochmal durchzustarten, Bei Null anzufangen. Es ist wirklich besser so....

Aber ich werd ihn vermissen ;(

Interessanterweise ist gerade eine kleine Diskussion im facebook gestartet und Gorm Johansson (Service mensch der Norweger) meint, dass Anssi auf keinen Fall zur Kombi zurückgeht, weil er mittlerweile viel zu dünn für Langlauf wäre! :ueberleg:

Stand dies je zur Frage? Er muesste das ganze Langlauf Training neu auf bauen. Dann er wuerde so viel Zeit verlieren. Ich denke es wäre nicht sehr sinnvoll. Irgenwann man muss sich schon festlegen.

naja so hab ich das zumindest immer verstanden und andere anscheinend auch.... Als diskutiert wird das auf jeden Fall, denn die Kombi braucht ihn auch!

ich dachte auch immer anssi ist nur in diesem jahr bei den spezies, bis er halt wieder richtig gesund ist.. aber irgendwie brauchen ihn ja mittlerweile beide sportarten dringend, ist schon sehr traurig alles

das mit harri finde ich auch sehr schade, aber es ist nunmal seine entscheidung, und wenn er sich nicht mehr in der lage fühlt weiterzumachen ist es besser so. vllt. überlegt er es sich in nem jahr oder so doch nochmal anders, er ist ja noch relativ jung.

He is busy with national team and Harri just goes and talks with reporter without asking Pekka's permission and without letting him to decide the better time for the announcement, and now reporters call Pekka and ask his opinion. And he would have so much more important work to do. Not at all consideration from Harri. :aetsch:

Pekka could really develop his media skills a bit :zunge2: It really doesn't make you look good, when you hear that someone has ended his career and you try to make it look like a personal insult, that they didn't think more about your work load and that you would have to comment the decision and it would have been better to tell it later when you had less work and more time for comments.
