So lange McHale am Ruder ist, geht es eh daneben.

Offiziell ist er schon seit Dezember nicht mehr der "vice president of basketball operations duties", und erst letzte Woche gab es die Meldung, dass ihm die Entscheidung selbst überlassen sei, ob er weitercoachen wolle oder nicht. Im letzteren Fall bedeutet es einen kompletten Abschied aus Minneapolis für McHale.

Meint ihr wirklich, dass er die Entscheidung im Draft treffen wird, weil die Wolves bisher noch keinen Nachfolger gefunden haben (Tom Penn, Dennis Lindsey und Randy Pfund haben ja bereits abgelehnt)?

Ich fürchte leider ja. Allein deswegen wäre es schon wichtig in den nächsten Wochen einen neuen GM zu benennen.

I have spent 24 years working around the game of basketball in several capacities. While I am a lawyer, journalist and entrepreneur, above all I am a basketball person. As General Manager with the Indiana Pacers, I worked side-by-side in the day-to-day operations of the basketball department with Donnie Walsh, one of the finest basketball minds in the game. I'm especially proud of the Pacers making eight playoff appearances in the nine years I was affiliated with them, topped off by an NBA Finals appearance in 2000.

I also had the privilege of leading the charge in the design, development and marketing of Conseco Fieldhouse, the Pacers' arena - an arena that is considered one of the finest venues ever built.

I have maintained my ties to the NBA by owning four NBA Development League (NBDL) teams over the past four years. This experience allowed me to hire nine coaches, including Sam Vincent, Michael Cooper, Jay Humphries and the late Dennis Johnson. My NBDL experience allowed me to constantly work on coach and player matters ever since I left the Pacers. And more recently, to further prepare myself for this opportunity, I went to Europe in March and scouted six professional games in eight days.

Throughout my time in professional basketball I have managed the salary cap, worked on trades, hired coaches, and managed large projects. So I am ready for this outstanding opportunity. Kahn Set To Meet With McHale

David Kahn will meet with Kevin McHale on Tuesday to discuss Minnesota's coaching job, but Kahn said Monday night he does not expect a decision on McHale's future to be made this week.

"Kevin has a long history here and a relationship with the owner that I respect and trust," Kahn said. "He's Kevin McHale, and I will not hurt Kevin McHale."

That confirms a Twitter message posted by the Timberwolves' Kevin Love early Wednesday that read, "Today is a sad day ... Kevin McHale will NOT be back as head coach this season."

Aber im Ernst, mich würde nicht wundern, wenn bald der Name Sam Mitchell fällt.

Ich fand hierbei auch Kevin Loves Twitter-Aktion ganz interessant und habe mich darüber mal im Korbsport-Blog geäußert.

Finde ich gar nicht mal so schlecht zumal alle 2010 Free Agents werden (ok Songaila hat ne Players Option), aber mal abwarten was da in den nächsten zwei Tagen noch so passiert

Hätte er das gleiche gemacht wenn NY ihn gedraftet hätte ? Ich glaube kaum.
Es ist ja nur eine Präsentation, nichts anderes, er war ja auch im MSG obwohl er noch unter Vertrag ist..

Natürlich darf er beim Draft problemlos teilnehmen, da werden ja nur Rechte an den Spielern vergeben. Die Situation mit seinem gegenwärtigen Verein und das Problem des Buyouts waren doch von Beginn an klar. Genauso wie, dass die Knicks wohl deutlich weniger Probleme hätten, ihn sofort aus seinem Vertrag herauszukaufen, als die Wolves. Warum jetzt die Aufregung?
