Wenn wir schon bei Next 4 Klitschko sind:
By Rick Reeno
BoxingScene has been informed that HBO, Don King and the Klitschko camp are very interested in matching up Vitali Klitschko and Andrew Golota. The proposed Golota-Klitschko matchup has come about due to the circumstances surrounding the Byrd-Golota rematch.
It appears at the moment, that the Golota-Byrd rematch is a dead issue. Jameel McCline and his camp seem to have pushed the IBF into a corner regarding his mandatory shot against Byrd. The IBF, fearful of a lawsuit, is going to accommodate McCline's petition to face Byrd. Prior to the IBF settling their differences with the McCline camp, there were several issues standing in the way of Golota-Byrd 2, the main one being money. Both fighters felt that they deserved a lot more money for the second bout due to the success of the first bout.
A source within HBO stated to BoxingScene:
"Most of the viewing audience thought Andrew (Golota) beat Chris Byrd. The natural choice from a business standpoint is to face Andrew while he's a hot name in the division. Andrew would be a good test for Vitali, his (Golota) awkward style could present some problems."
"There is interest on our end to get these guys in the ring. We know both camps are open to it, there is a very good chance that this match could happen."
On the subject of the biggest heavyweight fight out there:
"Unless Lennox decides to come out of retirement or Tyson gets serious about his career, the biggest match out there is a rematch between Vitali and Byrd. Vitali beating Golota and Chris (Byrd) getting by McCline would lead both men a step closer towards a rematch."
On the subject of Holyfield-Klitschko:
"I havent heard anything about this match. HBO would not be interested in matching Evander Holyfield against Vitali Klitschko. There was talk about staging a match between Evander Holyfield and Joe Mesi, issues with Mesi's health have put matching Mesi against anyone on hold"
Evander Holyfield stated to the Metro News that he never told anyone that he was set to face Vitali Klitschko, Evander stated that the story which was started by the NY Post, regarding him partying and screaming a set summer bout against Vitali, is a big lie.
