Actually idea of 'Norwegian Tour' is not completely new, it was tried already 2 times long time ago...
1st period was from 1958 - 1966, and the hills used were mainly Skuibakken, Drafnkollen, Porsgrunn, Marikollen etc.
For ex. 1959 edition was absolute 'A' class event in the international calendar that year together with Four Hills Tournament, with the participation of then best international jumpers Recknagel, Kankkonen, Kamenskij and of course complete Norwegian team (Yggeseth was actually overall winner)
In year 1967 'Nordic Tournament' was organized instead of 'Norwegian Tour', and the hills included were Rovaniemi, Oernskoeldsvik and Skui.
2nd period was from 1974 - 1980, with the hills at Rena, Vang, old Balbergbakken in Lillehammer, etc.
After that, it's place in international calendar (actually Europa Cup calendar) took the Trondersk Hoppuke, from 1983 - 1993.
Probably the main reason why Norwegian Tour didn't survived in those days (such as Four Hills for ex.) was that Holmenkollen Ski Festival didn't wanted to be included in it...because it was much more important and popular anyway.
Another maybe interesting fact is that during history there were so many of the 'smaller' tournaments, but only Four Hills had survived until today...Schweizer Springerwoche was an integral part of World Cup from 1980 - 1992, and the Europa Cup / Continental Cup calendar was full of smaller tournaments, such as Schwarzwarlder Springertournee, Bohemia Cup, Trondersk Hoppuke, Dreiländer Tournee, Grand Prix des Nation, Alpe Adria Cup etc.
