Tyson fought terrible (actually, he fought identical to how he did against Holyfield). He really needs to hang it up. It was funny too, because yesterday day, I was watching old Tyson fights (from the 80's)... and then watching him last night... it was laughable. He's not even 50% of what he was (and he still could be). Let's see, he has no stamina, he very rarely moves his head and NEVER bobs and weaves (what defined him as a fighter in the 80's), he throws one punch at a time, he doesn't hit to the body, he totally forgot what an uppercut was, even when he got in on Lewis it was like, "ok, what do I do now?". The fight was a joke. What really amazed me was that in the first few rounds, Tyson would come in... and then not even throw a punch! That's when he was supposed to smother Lewis with a barrage of punches! I was so pissed off last night.
The thing that amazed me too, was Tyson's trainer was telling him what to do, giving him good advice... it was like Tyson just didn't want to be there, or execute a game plan. Even if he knew he couldn't win... lose the fight going for a knockout, let it all go. Tyson just sat on the outside, as if he totally forgot that Lewis was 6'5" with a huge reach advantage.
Tyson will fight on, I'm sure, but only because he needs the money. But I really don't know what he's going to do. Maybe a fight with Tua or Holyfield? (By the way, I think Tyson last night would have gotten beat be Holyfield too). He could still probably beat Ruiz (who has a title). But as far as beating Lewis... forget about it. It was a mismatch. The only Tyson could do now, in my opinion, if he wants to really recapture the titles (which I don't really know he does)... is call up Kevin Rooney and Teddy Atlas, apologize, and start from scratch again. Or pray that Lewis retires and snag Emanual Steward. Honestly, I don't think he has it in him anymore though.
As far as Lewis goes... oh boy, I really don't know what to think. He's beaten everyone he's fought, but for some reason, he still doesn't really impress me that much. Maybe it's just because I don't like him. But either way, the fight last night should even change my opinion of Lewis, he beat a guy who was best days were over a decade ago.
