Sixers president/general manager Billy King was anticipating the quick signing of second-round draft choice Louis Williams and undrafted rookies Deng Gai and Shavlik Randolph, possibly as soon as last night... King also confirmed that forward Michael Bradley had invoked his player option for this season, thought to be worth $819,550... King said he planned to use his $5 million midlevel exception "probably only if we move a contract to free up room,'' and that he has "two guys I've really got my eye on'' if they become available via an amnesty clause to create luxury-tax relief that must be used by Aug. 15.

Not too luxurious. King said the Sixers were only $2.5 million to $3 million over the luxury-tax threshold, which the NBA set at $61.7 million.
He said these figures do not count the money that Willie Green would have made had he signed his six-year, $20 million deal yesterday. Green suffered a knee injury in a pickup game and will undergo surgery within two weeks. His contract situation is in limbo.
King said the total does not include either the mid-level exception of $5 million or the lower-level exception of $1.6 million. Asked whether he would use either one, he replied: "I'm not sure.
"We may add another player via trade," he said. "We'll be looking at the waiver wire come the 15th of August."
Aug. 15 is the deadline for teams to release one player whose salary will continue to count against the salary cap but not for purposes of the luxury tax.
