Despite ruckus, Lewis-Tyson at MGM Grand
The New York press conference announcing WBC and IBF heavyweight champion Lennox Lewis’ eagerly-awaited bout with Mike Tyson descended into farce when the former champ - after appearing to question the champion’s sexual orientation - moved toward Lewis and the title-holder threw a right hand (which fortunately missed), prompting a wild scuffle involving the boxers, members of the fighters’ entourages and jostling media. The glitzy conference was postponed soon after with the fighters instead being quizzed in one-on-ones by members of the media in separate parts of the building. A near hysterical Tyson appeared to suffer a minor cut on the hairline as a result the fracas.
