The Charlotte Bobcats agreed to trade centers Emeka Okafor, Nazr Mohammed and forward Vladimir Radmanovic to the Cleveland Cavaliers for Guard Sasha Pavlovic and Center Ben Wallace a source told yahoo.com.
The two teams have agreed to the deal in principle.
The deal will clear $19,5 million off the books for the Bobcats next season and give them more flexibility for this year.
Sprache
Sources Confirm that a Rubio/Rondo Trade Will Likely Happen on Draft Night
The trade was being hotly debated, sources say, inside the Boston front office over the weekend. Multiple sources confirm that Celtics coach Doc Rivers has been lobbying for Danny Ainge to “sell high” on Rondo since before the All-Star break, believing that the talent returned from trading the inconsistent guard could increase the chances of winning another title while the “Big Three” are all still viable NBA superstars. Danny Ainge became convinced that Rivers’ assessment was correct during exit interviews with at least ten veteran players who expressed extreme displeasure sharing the floor and locker room with Rondo. Ainge promised Doc Rivers, as well as select trusted Celtic veterans, that he would consider trading Rondo only for a point guard on Ainge’s informal list of “elite” point guard talent that is said to include Chris Paul, Deron Williams, Derrick Rose and Steve Nash.
Ainge and others within the organization believed that the economic crisis might have made Chris Paul available for Rondo, a cheaper alternative, but early conversations with the Hornets indicated that Paul could only be traded in a package that also included highly paid free agent busts James Posey and Peja Stojakovic.

Sources say they want two lottery picks, so a trade of 5 and 6 for the second or third pick in the draft is unlikely. But they might be willing to package 5 and 18. That may not be enough for Memphis (No. 2), but it could be for Oklahoma City (No. 3).
