Meine Gedanken zum Francis Trade. Hab ich schon auf RealGM gepostet und hatte keine Lust alles zu übersetzen und nochmal zu tippen:
Guys, I don't even know what to think, I am so upset with this deal. Really, I can't believe how so many people love it or are excited. I can understand 14 year old kids being happy to see more highlights on sportscenter but that's not what basketball is about... we want to win at some point again!!!
Steve Francis stands for everything which is already wrong with our team.
We are turning the ball over way too much, we move for Francis who is know for being extremely careless with the ball (3rd in the NBA in turnovers per game). We already heard rumors about trouble in the locker room and the NY media just waits for guys like Francis to ge their stories outta there and detract the team. Steve once asked his coach to give him time to watch the super bowl. He didn't report to the team that drafted him, as a rookie he had the nerves to say "I don't want this and that"!!! I mean give me a break. We are absolutely horrible when it comes to outside shooting, great, we move for Franics who is another penetrator. Yeah, he will find much room here sine we got NO ONE who spreads the floor. We lack perimeter defense and already get killed by clowns like Mo Peterson or Kareem Rush. Yet we add another 6-2 player who is undersized and isn't really known to be a good defender... isn't really known to be a good defender?? He's LAZY on defense!!!
Now we have to hope that Francis and Marbury turn out to be the next Frazier/Monroe combo. That's the way Isiah seems to think. Great hope, really. Sorry but this deal to me is one experiment too much. Crawford was an experiment - didn't work out! Curry is still a huge experiment - didn't work out so far. Before Zeke we had the Dice deal... guess what? Didn't work out. At some point this team and this franchise has to stop making experiments and try to built a solid and traditional way. Add maybe a true SG! Or defenders, smart players. Two way players. Not highlight heavy, spoiled troublemakers like Francis. His numbers are down from what he used to do.
Some people say that he will be dealt again in the summer. Ok... but you know what?! His value will be at an all time low and you can't just mix up the whole roster with the hope to move some of the players for better players one day. Businness isn't working like that. What if Francis gets injured, blows or fights with the coach. Disaster! Where will we deal him?? Really, he has a huge contract and this wheel cannot go on forever. At some point we cannot move one big deal for a bigger one and hope that one day some team will give us a superstar for an expiring. Francis isn't a superstar and he's clearly not a player who will make the difference of winning or not winning. Winning isn't just going to the playoffs.
Larry Brown wanted him?? Ok, he also wanted to make us a better team, didn't happen either. Now I just don't believe what these guys are doing. This deal is a media disaster for Isiah and the Knicks! We are already the laughing stock of the entire league yet we make another move without any sense. Youth movement?? Yeah, we still have too many PFs and no backcourt... this team is as unbalanced as it gets. I'm extremely upset, extremely UPSET and SAD! Because this deal means another months or even years being average or even worse. We ahve no future right now, no team, no spirit and what's much worse - NO DIRECTION AND NO IDENTITY!!!
I hope I'm completely wrong and Francis + Marbury + Knicks works out fine but seriously, who really believes that!?!? We still have the same problems after that deal that we had before, we actually got worse... but who cares. I will get a bottle of Grappa now and try to forget about all this pain that this franchise (lol) is sending me through... I'm jsut disgusted.
