Fightnews:
Vernon Forrest dropped Shane Mosley twice in round two and has just scored a dominating unanimous decision to win the WBC welterweight title at New York City's Madison Square Garden Theater. After an unintentional head butt left Mosley with a cut on the hairline, Forrest landed a blistering uppercut-left-right combination that put Mosley down and in all kind of trouble. Mosley beat the count and staggered around the ring trying to hold on. Forrest was credited with another knockdown near the end of the round when a reeling Mosley hit the deck again. Forrest never let Mosley establish a rhythm, hitting and clinching when Mosley tried to attack. It was all but over in round ten when Forrest landed several crushing body shots that clearly hurt Mosley. The bout was scored 115-110, 117-108, 118-108.

Boxing analysts around the world are frantically recalculating their pound-for-pound lists as Vernon Forrest dropped Shane Mosley twice in the second round and went on to score a unanimous decision (judges had it 117-108, 118-108, 115-110). Mosley had a bad night -- he was cut and knocked down for the first time in his career. When Forrest was asked why he's been the only man to beat Mosley twice (once as an amateur and once as a pro ten years later), he said "I had radar and a heat seeking missle, I was tracking him. He's fast but I know how to beat a fast fighter - with my jab."
