Dear Orlando Magic Season Ticket Holder,
We regretfully inform you of the news that our top draft pick this year, Fran Vazquez, has decided to stay in Spain and play for his hometown team. We were anticipating that Fran will be with us during the summer league, at training camp, and for the season, but there were circumstances beyond our control that prevented that from happening. As an organization, we were disappointed, but at the same time we have to put a positive spin. The Magic still hold Vazquez's rights, and maybe after a year or two of playing European basketball at the top level, he just might be the best player in the draft! The team has also saved money, since we were not obligated to pay Vazquez a guaranteed contract. Our second round pick, Travis Diener, while not being compensated as a first-rounder, plays just like one, which is the ultimate bang for the Buck, pun intended.
We have also a lot of things to get excited for. The continued development of Dwight Howard, who has improved so much, we didn't need to re-sign Clifford Ray. Steve Francis, the franchise player, will bring his awesome technical fouls and jaw-dropping turnovers to the court once more and that is something that we have missed this summer. Grant Hill has bounced back to All-Star form and we expect nothing less than another typical season. We also are excited about our new radio analyst, Dee Brown, a former Magic player, slam dunk champ, and Dream Job winner, who will attract folks from Jacksonville, his hometown. We anticipate a lot of fans from up North driving down to Orlando to see Dee analyze the game. Our top acquisition, Keyon Dooling, who is our new starting point guard, basically replicates Steve Francis, so we would have two players of the same caliber starting for us, which is twice the fun, twice the frenzy, and twice the total team effort!
Last but not the least, we have righted the ultimate wrong, and our franchise is once again a model for all of professional sports. The hiring of the best coach in Magic history, Brian Hill is one of the feel-good moments in sports, and nothing can top that, except for a championship! Coach Hill will attract lots of fans, and just his presence alone guarantees a sellout every night just like in 1993 - 1996!! He is the best free agent signing we had since we signed Jeff Turner in 1989. Coach Hill is the right man to lead this team into its proper place, both figuratively, and who knows, maybe literally.
To sum this all up, let's all remain upbeat in spite of our initial disappointment, and get excited about this upcoming season. We are working hard to ensure that your experience as a Magic fan remains the best and most rewarding, on and off the court.
