I say this again, Pekka could really work with his media skills some more. I do believe, that he really is a nice guy. I'm also sure, that he really doesn't want to sound like passive-aggressive, backstabbing a**hole, who can not let go of the grudge. I understand why he feels need to make it clear, that whatever happened with Harri, was in no way his fault (Harri's, Rane's and Kalle's bad seasons have caused some raised eye browses.) I also believe, that it is a truth. It was Harri's problems that caused this. But does Pekka really want to sound just as childish as Harri himself?
It is not so much what he says per se, it's about implications.
He tells, again, that Harri did not work systematically, didn't want to commit to system and when things didn't work, Harri got frustrated. Okay reporter asked, so he had to tell something and that would have been fine and dandy. Even telling that he has nothing personally against Harri is ok. (Though it would have been nice to say also something like that he hopes all the best for Harri in future or something. After all he
did say his career is over even though no one believes him.)
But the rest :donk:
- No need to tell that you have never been in the situation in your whole career where your jumper has made it necessary to comment so often to the media (well first it's not nice to imply, that Harri is so totally impossible that you have never met anyone like that before, even if it's true, he
did just end his career. And you were coach of France before. No offence but I'm sure none of French jumpers is in the top 10 of France best known athletes... Harri (and Rane) only need to sneeze and it's front page material.)
-Yes, everyone has understood that Harri's personal matters had a lot to do with this. But no need to imply, that he has also done something else (terrible) that you just don't want to tell, because
you are so loyal to your jumpers and respect them (even if they don't deserve it.) It would have been much more classy to just say, that also Harri personal matters were a factor or simply not say anything about that at all.
-And he
did end his career. Really no need to say anymore that if he had just done as you wanted him to do, he would have been a success.
