Sup everyone. Obviously yesterday was an awesome win, I just have to vent to you guys about an experience I had and was wondering if anyone here has experienced something similar.
Long story short, I had just entered the stadium yesterday and was walking up the staircase on the south end of the stadium. There was a large group of rowdy fans to my right chanting “F*ck the Giants” somewhat towards a guy wearing a Giants jersey in the middle of the concourse. I, getting in the home opener spirit, couldn’t help but throw a couple in myself. Well sure enough, a NFL security duo, unaffiliated with security at the Linc, asked for my ticket and ID and kicked me out of the stadium. It turns out they were running a sting operation and the Giants fan getting chanted at, was part of their security team. They took a picture of me and everything.
These guys picked me out of a group of 20 people chanting. Obviously I was shocked and asked the guys if they can give me a break. I wasn’t drunk, had two beers in the lot, and was very understanding from where they were coming from. An eagles fan literally screamed "**** the giants" into the face of the fake giants fan as I was being reprimanded but I guess they were just trying to make an example out of me.
Is it me or does that seem like a really aggressive response by the NFL? I wasn’t fighting, wasn’t a belligerent drunk asshole, wasn't throwing shit, I just threw in a couple “**** the Giants.” I realize it’s a family environment and it can be inappropriate. I get that. Lesson learned but how about just a verbal warning and put me on a one strike list? Now I’m out 100+$’s for that ticket and have to pay $250 to take a 3 hour course to be allowed back into an NFL stadium.
Am I out of touch or doesn’t that seem absurd?
