Leon Margules, President of Warriors Boxing Promotions, hopes a victory this Friday by Joel Casamayor (31-3-1, 19 KOs) over rugged journeyman Antonio Ramirez (24-10-6, 17 KOs) will lead into a title opportunity with WBA lightweight champion Juan "Baby Bull" Diaz (28-0, 14 KOs). “The networks (Showtime and HBO) are interested in the fight but it is a question of finding a date,” stated Margules to FightNews. “We are trying to work with the WBA so we can make this fight happen instead of Diaz fighting Lakva Sim." Diaz was scheduled for a rematch with Sim on March 3rd, but Sim unexpectedly pulled out of the bout. Although Diaz won a comfortable unanimous decision over Sim in July 2005, Sim was back in the title picture when he TKO’ed Ebo Elder in a WBA eliminator in September 2005. The WBA has left the door open for Diaz to make a voluntary defense before his next mandatory defense (which is most likely with Sim), hence the opportunity for Casamayor.
