Mich interessiert eher weniger ob die neue Denver starting 5 ein ernstzunehmender Contender ist, Fun verspricht sie allemal. Als reiner Zuschauer, der das Spektakel liebt, begrüße ich den Trade außerordenlich, auch wenn das eine irrationale Sichtweise ist.

In so einem Thread werden immer gern Argumente ausgetauscht und gegen das Argument "wird ein Spektakel" kann man nunmal nichts setzen. Daher: langweilig

Irgendwie kotzt es mich schon derb an, Iverson im baby-blauen Nuggets Jersey zu sehen. Damals, in seinem Rookie-Jahr, habe ich angefangen, mich für die NBA zu interessieren. Für mich gehört Iverson einfach zu Philly. King hätte ihm mal ein anständiges Team zusammenstellen sollen :teufel:

Trotzdem wird es interessant zu sehen, wie das Topscorer Duo miteinander zurecht kommt. Die Nuggets Spiele werden allemal interessant, sobald Anthony wieder zurück ist. Einen tiefen Playoff-Run halte ich allerdings für unwahrscheinlich. Eine solche Änderung im Team braucht einfach Zeit, zumal das für Iverson eine völlig neue Situation ist.

Finde den Trad nicht schlecht.
Freue mich auch schon A.I und Melo zusammen spielen zu sehen ist bestimmt interessant aber die ersten 2 Wochen wo Melo muss man noch abwarten da sie sich erst einspielen müssen.
Aber finde es auch schade das A.I kein Sixer mehr ist Iverson ist der Spieler der mich überhaupt erst zum Basketball gebracht hat. Naja egal muss man jetzt halt abwarten.

Wer fachlich nichts beizutragen hat, muß halt mit Emotionen kommen
Aber wer Fachleuten ein paar Jahre zuliest, der merkt auch schnell, da wird überall nur mit Wasser gekocht und selbst der dümmste Laie findet auch mal ein Korn. Es kann imho keiner vorhersagen ob die Kombi AI/Melo aufgeht, aber ich bin da recht zuversichtlich und der Support-Stuff ist ja auch nicht soo schlecht. PO-Chancen haben sie allemal und nächste Saison wird es richtig interessant. Doch egal wie es ausgeht, es wird auf jeden Fall unterhaltsam. Neben der guten Chance für AI seine Extraklasse einmal unter Beweis zu stellen, für mich der netteste Aspekt dieses Trades. Klar bin ich Konsument und will Spektakel! :thumb:
Zu weit gehen mir nur die Contender-Sprüche, da sehe ich Denver noch lange nicht. Aber ich hätte auch auf Detroit keinen Pfifferling gesetzt - nach dem Trade von Rashid. Das Schöne sind ja gerade die Überraschungen. Für den Titel wird wohl die Defense fehlen, aber Hölle - mir sind die Suns allemal lieber als ein Team wie die Heat.

Perhaps in Denver he will be part of a formidable 1-2 punch with Carmelo Anthony but the Nuggets will never be Iverson's team. He will never have the same impact in the Rockies as he did in Pennsylvania.
So how can we measure his impact? Perhaps Iverson's lone saving grace is that he can be the missing piece to the Nuggets puzzle. Denver is a team in flux -- supremely talented with some of the best young players (Anthony, Nene, J.R. Smith) in the conference but for one reason or another has never been able to get it together.
The inescapable image of last season was of the Clippers and Grizzlies furiously trying to lose games to set up a matchup with Denver in the playoffs. The Nuggets just don't scare anyone, save for a few ticketholders along the baseline at Madison Square Garden.

Iverson makes them scary. Iverson gives them a proven 30-point per game scorer who, when teamed with Anthony, gives the Nuggets an automatic 60 points every night. Can he mesh with Anthony? Sure, if 'Melo is able to accept that a player of Iverson's stature is probably going to dominate the ball on most possessions. Sure, if 'Melo accepts that he can be equally as good a scorer standing on the wing collecting kick-out passes from Iverson. Sure, if Anthony doesn't mind giving up the last shot.

But here's the thing to keep in mind: the Nuggets needed to make a move. They weren't going anywhere as it was. Maybe the first round of the playoffs again. If they got lucky, a chance to get whacked by the Mavs, Spurs or Suns in the second.

Iverson gives Denver a chance to survive the next four weeks while Carmelo Anthony serves his 15-game suspension. In the ultracompetitive Western Conference, this can't be overlooked. The Nuggets simply could not afford to sit back and lose ground to the likes of the Kings, Warriors, Timberwolves and Hornets.

But Iverson also gives the Nuggets real hope beyond the short-term benefits. With Iverson and Anthony, they will boast two of the NBA's leading scorers. Add in Marcus Camby, a true shot-blocker and one of the game's better centers, and Denver will have a trio to match up with the Western Conference elites.

Are the Nuggets a championship team? Maybe not.

Will they be a better and more entertaining team? Definitely.

Considering King's last first-round selection was Andre Iguodala -- who most in the league expect to emerge as a star in the near future -- and that the '07 draft is expected to be an excellent one with many promising players -- that bodes well for Philly.

Since Karl learned his Xs and Os at the feet of Dean Smith, practice time is sacrosanct and his players are required to be on time and be ready to work hard. Iverson will certainly toe the line for a while. But how long will it take for A.I. to lapse into his habitual show-up-late-and-lazy attitude? Then what does Karl do?

Okay, if Iverson will be granted a license to shoot while Anthony is in exile, what will happen when 'Melo returns? Will anybody else get to touch the ball?

Sooner or later, his new teammates will react the same way to playing with Iverson as virtually all of his former teammates have — with frustration that will eventually become disgust. And that's exactly why the Nuggets will have difficulty recruiting any free-agent superstars.

Overall, Philadelphia has made a firm commitment to the future, a step that was as necessary as it is worthy. On the other side of the equation, Denver has made an equally firm commitment to the here and now, a step to the edge of an abyss that will create more excitement than success.

The immediate (and short-lived) advantage goes to Denver.

1. They pick up a good player in the deal. Miller will be the Sixers' starting point guard for the foreseeable future. Of course, the trade might not turn out well for the Nuggets. Iverson and Carmelo might not mesh. After all, we're talking about the league's two current leading scorers playing on the same team. Can they coexist? The fact that Melo doesn't handle the ball a lot in order to score bodes well, as does the fact that Iverson has proven to be a good distributor when he wants to be. (He averaged 7.4 assists per game last season).
Financially, Denver could be facing luxury tax hell, with the contracts of Anthony, Iverson, Marcus Camby and Nene Hilario putting the team well over the threshold. If the Nuggets don't succeed with this group, they will be hard-pressed to disentangle themselves from a salary-cap nightmare. But if it does work, they could challenge the Spurs, Suns and Mavericks for Western supremacy.

Karl has made compromises with his coaching style in Denver, running freer and looser with discipline, with his style, and there could be some short-term benefits with Iverson. Sooner than later, there will be issues on the floor. Anthony returns Jan. 20 at Houston, and problems could start as soon as he takes the floor with Iverson that night. That's when everyone will be asking the nagging question that will keep chasing the Nuggets: "Whose team is this?"

Here comes Iverson with all that been-there, done-that wisdom for Anthony, a twisted reality that will find this suddenly anointed thirtysomething sage thrilled to play the part in public.

No, 'Melo isn't going to like fitting into Iverson's game. This was Carmelo Anthony's ball, his franchise, until he gave Iverson the opening to come take it all away.

für mich überwiegen nach einer nacht darüber schlafen immer noch die fragezeichen. sicherlich steckte denver in der zwickmühle, da der abstand nach oben halt sehr sehr weit ist.
aber iverson, all die fragen, die mit seiner ankunft verbunden sind, und der run-and-gun-stil, der jetzt unumgänglich geworden ist, lassen mich zweifeln, ob es richtig wäre, das "c"-wort auszusprechen

Meiner Meinung nach ist Denver ab sofort Contender!

AI hat jetzt ein paar Spiele Zeit, das System der Nuggets zu erlernen bevor die beiden anderen Offensivspieler der Nuggets zurückkommen. Als Starting Five würde ich dann AI - JR - Melo - Evans - Camby spielen lassen. Die drei kleinen Offensivspieler mit zwei Großen, die den Ball in der Offensive nicht brauchen ist eine perfekte Konstellation. Nene würde ich als Ersatzspieler einsetzen, der Bigman für die Punkte.

Also Camby wuerde ich Offensiv nicht gerade mit Evans vergleichen, denn ich denke gerade der Fakt das man mit Nene und Camby 2 Leute hat die unter dem Korb punkten koennen macht die Nuggets soviel besser als Team mit ebenfalls guten Trio wie die Nets und Wizards.

Ob Iverson die Nuggets tatsächlich zum Contender macht und sich unterordnen kann, sei mal dahingestellt. Ich weiß wirklich nicht, wie man sofort sagen kann, dass Denver ein Contender ist. Schließlich stehen hinter dem Frontcourt mehr Frage-, als Ausrufezeichen. Nene, Camby und der Rest sind zum Einen sehr verletzungsanfällig, zum anderen qualitativ doch nicht das Gelbe vom Ei. Ich weiß nicht, ob man mit einem so backcourt-lastigen Spiel wirklich auf einer Stufe mit den Spurs, Mavericks oder Suns ist. Ich glaube Nein. Vielmehr sollte man sich an den Clippers, Rockets und Lakers orientieren.

ich finds überhaupt nicht dumm. zum einen haben sie mit andre miller einen spieler, den das ein oder andere team sicher mit kusshand empfangen würde (=> Cap und/oder Picks und/oder Talente), zum Anderen sollte man nicht ganz ausser Acht lassen, dass die 76ers einige junge Talente in ihren eigenen Reihen haben, denen es nicht schaden kann, wenn Andre als Aufbau agiert und ihnen dadurch das Spiel erleichert. Für Carney + Green + Iggy ist das bestimmt nicht zum Nachteil.

Geht es nur mir so, aber ist das so eine typische Antwort, die man auch bei Premiere zwischendurch bewundern darf?


Auf den ersten Blick ist natürlich Denver der Gewinner dieses Trades, da sie nun ein Offensivbollwerk sind und Punkte produzieren werden, wie chinesische Kinder Turnschuhe. Ich hoffe, dass es George Karl schafft nun auch den dritten Charakter in sein Konzept einzubauen, ohne dass es Reibereien bei Spielanteilen, Zügen oder spielentscheidenen Schüssen gibt. Die Nuggets waren vor der Saison ein Geheimfavorit für mich, jetzt gehören sie offensichtlich zum Kreis der Anwärter auf den Thron. Mit dem Material müssen mindestens die WCF drin sein.

Auf lange Sicht wird aber auch Philly von dieser Situation absolut profitieren. Da sie zum einen unterm Cap Platz geschaffen haben und mit 3 First-Rounder im nächsten Jahr einiges an Talent heranholen können. Irgendwie erinnert mich deren Situation an die der Magic, nachdem man McGrady abgegeben hatte. Ein Cut, der vielleicht nötig war (ja, die Magic mussten noch die Zeit mit Francis absitzen ), um einen kompletten Neuaufbau zu beginnen, deren Grundelemente Andre Miller, Iguodala, Carney und Dalembert sein dürften.

Im groben und ganzen möchte ich aber sagen, dass ich es immer schade finde, wenn ein Franchise-Player die Farbe wechselt, weil ichs immer noch cool finde, wenn ein Spieler seine Karriere bei einem Verein verbringt.
