ESPN schrieb:Yao Turns Down Rockets Maximum Contract Offer
"The Houston Rockets have offered Yao Ming a 5 year US$70 million maximum contract extension, which is equal to the maximum amount that any other team can pay Yao under the NBA's new Collective Bargaining Agreement. However, Yao and his American sports agent, Bill Duffy, have refused the contract offer and are said to possibly be holding out on signing a deal with another team until after Yao's 5th season in the league, perhaps choosing instead for Yao to play this year at US$5.6 million, and the next at the Rockets qualifiying offer of US$7.2 million.
Yao and his agent Duffy, have informed the Rockets that they may still consider signing an extension this summer for 6 years and US$90 million, which is the maximum amount that Houston can offer Yao under NBA rules and US$20 million more than any other team could sign him for outright, depending on what roster moves Houston makes from now until the deadline for Yao to sign another deal with the team.

Name: Marcus Douthit
Player comparison: Poor man's Eddie Griffin. Less Range.
Size:
1. Height – 6’9.5" w/o shoes. 6'10.5" w/shoes
2. Wingspan – 7'4”
3. Weight - 240
4. Body Fat – N/A
Athleticism:
1. Lateral movement – Average. At times he shows on help defense. Other times, bluntly late.
2. Initial quickness - Average. Not really going to blow by anyone at the NBA level.
3. Top speed – Good. Very fluid runner. Certainly faster than Bynum.
4. Vertical leap – Average. Not too quick off his feet. Not too high on the vert.
5. Reflexes – Average. Timing in the triangle offense is off. Defensive rotations.
6. Strength – Average.
7. Conditioning – Plays strong from 20 minutes. Above that and his activity level drops.
8. Footwork – Good. Utilizes triple threat positioning in the high post.
9. Balance – Good. Doesn't get pushed around too often.
Skill Level:
1. Offense
• Perimeter Play
• Dribble penetration – Decent first step. If he draws in the defense, is more than a willing passer. Looks awkward finishing towards the rim for a layup.
• Post play – Limited. Really needs to work on the post-entry pass. Everyone of them looks telegraphed. Takes a bit of time to make a decision in regards to passing out of the high post. Barely showed a jumphook with good extention.
• Off-the-ball – Average activity level. Doesn't set screens too well.
• Short game (0’-7’) – Just tip ins, dunks, and short hooks in the paint. Doesn't great shots well from that distance.
• Midrange game (8’-18’) - Good. Straight up jumpshot. Nice high release point. Money from 10'-15'.
• Long range (19’-23'9" or longer) – N/A
2. Defense
• Man to man defense
Position – Average. Does get beat.
Anticipation – Average. His shotblocking has decreased since the last SPL. Used to be more active as a post defender and weakside shotblocker.
• Off-the-ball defense
Position – Average
Anticipation – Average.
• Team defense
Position - Good.
Anticipation – When he rotates well, he contests well, even when Bynum or a Laker PG gets beat. Problem is, it's just half the time.
Rebounding
1. Offensive
• Box-out – Average. Boxes-out half of the time. Doesn't put up big rebound numbers. Better rebounder last SPL than this SPL, and last SPL was nothing to write home about.
• Hustle – Average
• Energy level – Average
• Position – Uses activity and length to make up for position.
2. Defensive
• Box-out – Average
• Hustle – Does hustle, but doesn't come up with the loose ball in the same way that Devin Green, Ronny Turiaf, Von Wafer, and Smush Parker do.
• Energy level – Average
• Position – Usually out of position for rebounding. Relying on length.
Intangibles
• Leadership – N/A
• Attitude – A bit short tempered. Quiet demeanor on the floor, but doesn't back down to anyone. Doesn't like physical contact. Already ejected out of one game.
• Work Ethic – Needs more of it.
• Competitiveness – When the Lakers make a scoring run, it's usually with Turiaf, Harvey, or Bynum in.
• Unselfishness – Unselfish player, more than willing to give up the ball to a teammate.
• Toughness – Average. Most comfortable 10'-15' away from the basket.
• Mental – See Toughnesss and Attitude.
• Physical – Good PF frame that needs a load more strength, everywhere.
Summary: In the Euroleague, he found offensive strength in the dribble from the high post position. That's all he learned. Boxing out, passing, weakside shotblocking, attitude, man-defense, team-defense... all declined. He really needs to play much tougher competition to get used to NBA level athleticism and hone his timing along with that pace of game in order to make the team. He's providing all the things we dont want in a PF. Average defensively, rebounding,.... against SPL.
Wichtig:
zitiere mich ausnahmsweise mal selber, weil mich da eure meinung intressieren würde...highfive schrieb:hab mir nochmal die FA-PG`s angeschaut
